Description
A rough illustration for the Alabama Museum. I'm going to color it later.The original inspiration for this coloring job was the Emerald Swift, but I got tired and didn't properly commit to the idea and so we ended up with generic camo tyrannosaurid instead. I've been slugging at this one for a while and I'm sort of sick of it, so once again, if you have suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Loving the pose. I though Appalachiosaurus forelimbs were actually three fingered and with massive claws, similar to Dryptosaurus? unless I missed something.

Short answer: I screwed up.
Long answer: I hadn't seen anything published about the forelimbs, so I made a guess that it was similar to other tyrannosaurids. Seems to be wrong, though. Oh well.

Hmm...dull orange patches on the throat, upper skull & banded down the tail?
That said, nice partial application of the filamentous bits; for all the extrapolation Yuyutyrannus has encouraged, I'm ambivalent regarding the prospect of swathing every single tyrannosaur in snout-to-tailtip down. Especially given the preservation of scaly patches from G.libratus and T.rex itself.

Well, the scaly patches might have been feet or so, given Tyrannosaurus had no reason to lose feathers.

Appalachiosaurus also lived in fairly warm, humid environments. There's little reason to suspect it wasn't feathered in some capacity, but I also highly doubt it was a fluffy creature. The bristles on its neck here can fluff up to make it look more menacing for display, since it doesn't need them particularly for insulation.

I can definitely roll with 'bristles' as a tyrant-lizard feature...and now that I've had a higher-res look at this one, you've actually made a rather solid start of adapting the Swift color scheme to a beast of radically different size & morphology. Applying some sort of discoloration to the claws might be worth a go whenever you opt to gussy this pic up, but that's all I can suggest.

Looks great! I like the feathers you gave it, and its nice to see such an underrated dinosaur.
