Description A study of Dromeosaurus, the first raptor dinosaur ever discovered. Appeared in Prehistoric Times Issue 83.

Dromaeosaurus differs from most other Dromaeosauridae in having a short, massive skull, a deep mandible, and large, robust teeth. In these respects Dromaeosaurus resembled the tyrannosaurs. A few bones are known from the hindlimb and they indicate that Dromaeosaurus was a powerfully built animal. Exactly how it lived and what it ate are still open to speculation. It was probably better suited to tackling large prey than the more lightly built Saurornitholestes.
"Dromaeosaurus Morphotype A" is the designation given to a series of unusual, ridged dromaeosaur teeth from Alberta. These teeth probably do not belong to Dromaeosaurus, although it is unclear from what animal they do come.

The type species is D. albertensis. The other species,
lacking in material, may well be synonymous

It's a very nice sketch but had they got a differences in size? (I think about sexual dimorphision)

Hard to say. Given we don't have a huge amount of fossil material with which to work. It's certainly quite possible.

Of the few dromaeosaurus illustrations here, yours is 1 of the better ones. I particularly like the sexual dimorphism. It's a shame, though, that we know so little about the 1st dromaeosaur ever found compared to the other well-known dromaeosaurs.
