Description For those not familiar with the man in the second panel: Nikola Tesla, as played by David Bowie, appears in the book and movie The Prestige. In an effort to make a teleportation machine, he instead creates a machine that makes an exact duplicate of something, only some distance away. Apparently, he's been tinkering with it some.

This arc ends here; I'll leave it to your imaginations how (and if) any of the "copies" made it back to their original sources.

Coming next week: One of the most cracked out ideas I've had for the Roommates series. More than a little magic will be worked.

Watched the Prestige last Autumn.  Didn't like it nearly as much as The Illusionist, despite Bowie making a nice sardonic and reclusive Tesla.

Years later, I finally watched The Prestige on your recommendation! It's absolutely phenomenal.

Until I read this comic awhile back, I never realized Bowie played Tesla until that point....holy crap, it was like Captain America/Human Torch all over again. Hardly recognized the actor. Diverse! DIVERSE!

Nikola Tesla..did you have to remind me that my parents gave me a name for girls AND boys. You could have chosen so many characters..(Yes my name is Nikola and yes I'm a girl.)

I like to think that Javert and James did end up with an interesting wall in their apartment.
And that later on when that got messed up one or both of them at least attempted to have it replaced.

(Also, don't forget James Lapine!)

The image of them keeping a cork-board of memories is now stuck in my head. I don't know what they'd keep... (Jareth has the scrapbook, at least, but I can't picture either James or Javert scrapbooking...)

It's quite amazing. I find myself talking like the characters rather frequently. I have said word instead of cool several times now cause of Finn and thirty minutes ago at the grocery store I saw Easter candy and shouted oh my glob. It's one of my favorite shows.

Wow really? Then again, as a huge fan of the kid's show Adventure Time I shouldn't be surprised. I mean, I've heard AT characters use the words crap, crud, shut up, and sexy. I guess parents are beginning to coddle their children less. I always thought treating children like glass was silly, but I'm also a rennie so I'm biased. (Rennie: a person who participates in Renaissance Faires.)

Isn't general audiences a G rating? What with the slash/fanservice/Jamie with a harpoon in his gut, not sure I would rate this G. . .

AsheRhyder In reply to JarethsSlave [2013-02-26 21:56:52 +0000 UTC]

Oddly enough, the children's graphic novel of At World's End shows James' impalement at an almost profile shot, so you see the harpoon coming out of his back.

As much as the idea of Ziggy Stardust, John Blaylocke, or Thomas Jerome Newton showing up that would almost have to turn this into an M rated comic. X rated if you've seen The Man Who Fell to Earth. (The book was astounding but unfortunately the only good things about the movie were Bowie's stellar performance despite being addicted to cocaine and seeing him naked. Hmm, put that way I guess they're even. *evil grin*)

AsheRhyder In reply to JarethsSlave [2013-02-24 18:22:25 +0000 UTC]

The Prestige that is. It came out in the same year as The Illusionist, a favorite film of mine surrounding another magician by the name of Eisenheim, starring Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti, and Rufus Sewell.
