no that I plan to, but was this tutorial always a "not for profit" one? or is that new

Why is the back so big and the belly so large? I can't fit the peices on top of each other and sew them.

:S Then it should be right... Are you following the tutorial exactly?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

adorablesavage In reply to AshFantastic [2011-10-21 23:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes, although should the back and belly fit exactly together perfectly sized.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to adorablesavage [2011-10-21 23:42:12 +0000 UTC]

The back should be slightly bigger to give it a more rounded shape.

Hi! I just have to say that I love your patterns - I've made all of them except for this one!
Anyways, I've got one question (the first one I've ever had on a tutorial of yours!). In step seven, I totally get the direction of the *front* of the head, but the back of the head is really confusing me. On the printed pattern, the back of the head piece isn't perfectly symmetrical. Is that intentional, or does it not matter what direction it is sewn in? I don't want to mess up the head! Thanks!

AshFantastic In reply to kaitiekinsey [2011-08-22 23:12:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like them
It's not intentional (I'm not a perfectionist ) so feel free to alter it if you'd like

Cool, thank you very much for the uber-speedy response! This clears up *so* much for me!
It's fine - I've made my own patterns, and they're never even this perfect!
:]

This is an awesome tutorial!!!
I've been trying to make plushies for a while and this one is actually coming out good!.. I have it mostly done but I'm just confused about making the clothes..
I'm trying to make long-sleeved shirt and pants on him..
any tips?
^^'''

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to kibacrazy11 [2011-08-15 10:47:59 +0000 UTC]

What I do for long sleeves and pants is, for example, pants:
I cut out the regular pattern for the leg, but chop an inch or two off the tip of the leg. I then use the bit I chopped off to use as a pattern for the colour of the pants I want to make. Then sew the pants-coloured bits back on to the rest of the leg pattern and sew up and stuff the legs.
You should now have a leg that is skin coloured at the bottom and pants-coloured at the top!
Now what I do is lay the leg onto the pants-coloured fabric and draw out how long I want the pattern to be. Make sure you make it fatter because you'll want it to fit. So cout two of these patterns for each leg and thensew them up.
Turn them inside out and poke the leg through them, then stitch into place!

I hope that's not too confusing! It works for long sleeves too

Great looking dolls and I admire your creativity. I'm trying to get my mojo back that I've lost for a very long time and hoping to get inspired through other people's dolls/plushies and tutorials. When I get around to making mine, I will definitely let you know and post. In the meantime, I'll be looking forward to more dolll/tuts from you. Great work!! : )

do you think , for an amature like mua lol , would this doll be easier for a starter or your other long one? thank you !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AshFantastic In reply to neeneeluv [2011-06-11 21:06:58 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmm...
That's hard to say.
This one has simpler pieces, but requires a knowledge of backstitch, button-hole stitch and the ability to sew on buttons.
The other one is more 3D, so the pattern pieces are a little more complicated but it only requires the knowledge of one stitch...
So I suggest you go for which one you feel most comfortable with based on what I've just said
