Description Mortals crave immortality.
But there are only a few individuals who bear enough knowledge to even try to expand their lifespan.
An attempt have been made however.
In secret, an old golem crafter delved deep into the arts of black magic.
Decades of study behind him, he felt ready to escape death.
He stole a freshly assembled Aegis-Pattern golem from the manufacture he worked in.
These golems fulfill a defensive role in armies utilizing shield tactics, and were just updated to the Mark II.
He prepared a ritual to transfer his own soul, his very being into a husk of metal.
The secret room's walls were filled with symbols and scribbles, the floor with candles.
He touched his chest with the end of his wand, and began pulling out a dim glowing translucent matter,
which looked like weightless silk, his senses going number as he pulled his soul away.
When his wand tinkled by contacting the metal, the soul quickly molded with the humanoid construct.
The old man fell to the ground dead.
The ritual was complete, but the spell backfired, and the soul was purged.
The golem came to life without any memories.

There's an inside joke between golem crafters, that they are making so much slaves for themselves,
that they would eventually turn against them. Although it's highly impossible considering
the average golem's basic intelligence and lack of self-awareness,
they would often refuse to improve their artificial intellect for safety measures.
Needless to say how awkward the situation gets when a supposedly inactive golem walks up to
a pair of workers asking politely about where and who it is.
The workers run around in panic, and the guards walk in to shut down a defective unit.
It gets less fun though, when the defective unit is completely self-aware,
and subconsciously grabs a sword to defend itself, cuts down half a dozen of it's attackers,
and rushes out the main gate.

An error. A glitch in the system. Design flaw. They've had many explanations.
But it was still too much. An order came to effect, that every single Mark II Aegis golem are to be
smelted back into ingots and their hearts are to be ground into dust so the same thing could
never happen again.

Two decades later the golem have learned a lot, calls itself Clang-Clang after the sound it's feet
make when it walks, doesn't meet people very often, but when it does, it wears disguise, and
acts like a gentleman.

It's symbol of escape is the shroud and sword, and it's soul runs in it's imprinted circuitry,
the tale of the rebellious golem have become a favorite among the folk living under tyrant kings.
It is an example, that there's always a chance for freedom, even if you were made only to serve.

Cool story. I've always been a big fan of the humanoid robot concept, especially when they're more noble/human than the average man. Makes for almost an existential contradiction in a way... Again though, cool story/character.

Bocsi...nem...tudom...kihagyni: Meneküljünk! Iszkoljunk! Jön a gólem!

Ooooh really like this guy's look. Almost has sort of a cartoony appearance to him. His back story is also pretty interesting, with the magics and the memory loss and the kookoo ka choo.

But seriously, great job on this!

Thanks, glad you like it!
A bit cartoony, but I still like how it came out.
In fact I'm planning to do a proper character sheet for him,
as well as some other characters, but that's still future.

Now this sounds like a fascinating character. His design feels like it emphasizes both "knight in shining armor" and "less-than-human vagrant" which makes for a neat combination.

Yes. It depends on which side of the coin you're on.
Idolized and praised by the poor, cursed and hunted by the rich and powerful.
