“Hi, there!” Reef greeted the quill as he made his way over, attempting to make small talk. “Are you looking for clues too?” The quill stiffened slightly, clear apprehension crossing his face. Had... he done something wrong? He hadn’t meant to upset the quill... “Sorry... got a little ahead of myself there.” He apologised, trying to brush it off. “I’m Reef, by the way!”
“Noctus.” The quill started. Noctus, nice name. “S-sorry for not responding right away... It’s not your fault... I should have seen you coming.”
“No, no, it’s ok.”
“A-anyway, I’m not doing the treasure hunt. I’m actually just looking after Noah right now.” He glanced in the direction of the wyngling. Noah. Got it. “Well, I was going to practice my earth magic but that’s a long story... You probably have much more interesting things to do than talk to me...”
“Well, not rea-“ The yellow quad started before being cut off.
“Reef, come look at this a sec!” Diana called. Looking over at her, it seemed as if both her and Bubblegum were looking at something on the floor.
“Your team wants you...” Noctus began before Reef could even open his mouth.
“I’m so sorry, Noctus! I... I really do want to talk but-” Reef winced as he said this, the conflict inside him growing by the moment his heart pulling in both directions so hard it felt fit to burst.
“No... it’s fine... take your time. Sirius worked so hard on these puzzles, it would be a shame for them to go to waste.”
“Well... alright. But I’ll be right back, ok?”
“I don’t see why you’d want to. I’m just here getting in the way... But it’s up to you, I guess...”
