Description

  Going at a steady pace so Mako didn’t trip over himself on the way, he and Evergreen made their way to the hospital. Mako’s heart raced in his chest the closer they got. As happy as he was that Bubble was safe at last, he was also very fearful of what would happen when she saw him again… Would she be happy? Or would she turn him away, thinking he was a Monster…? His heart ached at the very thought, clenching the front of his shirt over his heart.
    Reaching the main entry, Mako’s ears sprung up as he saw that the police really were at the hospital in the main lobby. A few were clustered around Lady and Bubble, blocking their view of Mako and Evergreen as they walked in. A police officer approached them.
Officer: Are you Mako?
Mako: Y-yes..
Officer: We have a few questions we want to ask you, as you are a pony of interest in an attempted pony-slaughter case. I need you to stay within the building until further notice.
Mako: Of course, I can do that..
Officer: Good.. Right this way please. *gestures to the sitting area where Bubble and Lady were*
    Mako’s ears drooped down again as he hesitantly made his way to the sitting area to wait patiently. He kept his eyes on Bubble, slowly stepping into her line of sight. On the side of her face had a red and purple-ish bruise… what happened at the hotel..? Mako could feel his muscles tense as he caught sight of the bruise, knowing completely who gave it to her. Every bone in his body wanted to dart out of the hospital and to the hotel to get Streak himself. The sound of metal clanging together made his ears perk as he turned to the doorway. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw Streak being wheeled in on a stretcher, his back covered in blood and claw marks all over. Guess he was too late for that party…
Mako: Sweet Luna…
Bubble: *staring at Mako, tentatively reaching up and pushing his hair away to see the bandages* .. Mako.. What.. what happened?! *her eyes wide and full of panic*
Mako: *jumps at the touch and flinches away slightly* B-bubble..! Are you okay..?! Your face!
Bubble: *ears fold back as she reached and touched her face* I.. I’m sorry.. I should have listened to you… I shouldn’t have left….. *her eyes starting to shimmer like she was about to start crying*
Mako: *shakes his head, gently reaching to pull her closer to him* It’s not your fault… I’m sorry for what I did… I-I never wanted you to see me like that, that’s not who I am…! I’m not a…. I’ve never been….
Bubble: *presses her lips against Mako’s, silencing him with a kiss*
Mako: *ears perk, then droop again as he returns the kiss, holding her tight*
Bubble: *pulls away slightly, her muzzle still pressed against his, tears running down her face* I love you, Mako.. I know exactly who you are… you are my everything.
Mako: *lets out a breath he felt he was holding for hours* … I love you too… *nuzzles her and purrs softly, only able to curl his tail around her half way*
Bubble: *nuzzles back, her eyes squeezed tight to try and stop the tears from falling. She buried her face into Mako’s neck and let out a sob*
Mako: *holds her as close as possible, gently rubbing her back* It’s okay now… You’re safe..
Bubble: *nuzzles into his shoulder a bit more until she could calm herself back down. Opening her eyes, she winced a little, seeing that Lady was staring at her from behind Mako* ……..
Lady: *ears fold back, her eyebrows furrowed* …….
Bubble: *ears fold back as well, looking away from Lady’s unforgiving gaze. She’d pull away from Mako, wiping the tears from her eyes* W-what happened to you..? If I had known you were injured.. I would have stayed..!
Mako: *puts a hand to his head* It was when we went under the water… He hit me over the head with a rock.. Then on my tail.. *turns to show the large bandage wrapped around the base of his tail*
Bubble: Oh goddesses… have you had any X-rays yet? That’s really close to your spine, something could have gotten damaged..! Where is Dr Evergreen..? You should go have that looked at.. What if you never swim again..?! Oh no…*looking around for the doctor*
Mako: Sh-she already looked me over, but she brought me here for further observation… I’m sure I’ll be fine, I’ve had worse injuries, right? Hehehe…
Bubble: *puffs her cheeks out* Don’t say that..! I hate when Singe says that too! Every injury, no matter how small and insignificant it may be, could very well be your last, and I plan on living a very long and healthy life with you, dammit!

Mako: *looks up at Bubble* Don’t say that, how is--
Lady: Mako..! Just, don’t…
Mako: *ears fold back* Are you saying it IS her fault..?!
Lady: I’m not pinning blame on anyone except for the psycho who came to the island… If he didn’t show his face here everything would’ve been fine..
Bubble: *ears fold flat to her head, muttering to herself* ….. I waited too long.. I should have did it earlier…..
Mako: *ear perks up* What was that?
Bubble: *ears perk slightly* …. It’s nothing..

Mako: Huh? O-oh, right… *gets up carefully and gives a kiss on Bubble’s forehead* I’ll be back.. *walks off*

Bubble: *hand clench, gripping her skirt* …. R-right....
    The next day after interrogation, Mako was let off and proven innocent with the help of the recorded audio provided by Lady. However, because of the nature of the fight once it reached the water, it was requested that Mako’s history was looked at in a background check. To which, he was perfectly okay with. Having stayed overnight for observation, Evergreen gave the okay for him to go home, as well as Daniel. He had no broken ribs or internal injuries. The only things left behind were bruises, thankfully. As Mako prepped to go home, he did a little bit of stretching to help the muscle in his tail.
Mako: These hospital beds are so uncomfortable on my fin… *cracks his back*
Bubble: *winces at the popping noise* … yeah. Thankfully you can rest all you like when we get back home… on a proper bed, heh..
Mako: *looks to her, his ears folding back* … Are you alright..?
Bubble: *nods and rubs the side of her neck* Yeah. I just want to go home..
Mako: … *walks over and gives her a gentle hug* Everything’s okay now… He’s gone, he can’t come back and hurt you again.. Hm, the restraining order helps on that part…
Bubble: *returns the hug, her hands gripping at the back of Mako’s shirt* Mmhmm.. I know..
Mako: *nuzzles the top of her head before taking her hand* Let’s go home.. Heheh, we can get some peace and quiet after all this..
    A few minutes later, after walking through the front door of their home.
Singe: OH. MY. GODDESSSES! Look who finally decided to show up! Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been? Not a phone call.. Nothing!
Bubble: *raises a finger* My phone got smashed so…
Singe: THAT’S NO EXCUSE! Ugh!
Mako: Singe, calm down! Can you not…. Do this.. *gestures to all of him*

Mako: Yeah! Don’t be your natural crazy self and let us rest for a bit! We just got back from a night of being questioned by the cops..!
Singe: *ears perk* So there really was cops? What about Streak? Was he arrested? Or did the bastart finally die? What haaaaaappened?!
Mako: *deep breath* Okay…. He was arrested! On account of attempted assault on a mare, a pregnant mare, and assault on a minor. He was also wounded in the fight and a couple of the muscles attached to his wings were severed, so he won't be flying anytime soon.. He’s ALSO been slapped with a restraining order, so even if he did get out of jail, he won’t be showing his face around the island anytime soon.
Singe: Ha! Serves the dickweed right! Who tore up his wings? Was that you Mako?
Mako: *ear twitches* No, my nephew did that… B-before Streak slammed him into the wall, and the floor…
Bubble: *looks to the side, ears folded back* ...
Singe: Bloody hell…. Is he okay?
Mako: Yeah, he’ll be okay.. No bones were broken, so he walked away from the hospital with only bruises.
Singe: *sighs* That’s good to know.. And how is Lady doing?
Mako: *rubs the back of his head* She’s…. Okay..?

Mako: She was very quiet at the hospital the entire time.. Evergreen said she and the baby were okay, but Lady just had this stone cold look on her face all night.
Bubble: *grimaces, her ears twitching* … Well, I think that wraps everything up… I’m exhausted.. I think I’m going to head to bed..
Singe: Oh.. okay.. *ears perk* Wait, what happened to your face?
Bubble: *ear twitches* …. Streak made a move to attack Lady and I took the hit… it’s nothing, just a bruise..

Mako: *looks up at Bubble* Don’t say that, how is--
Lady: Mako..! Just, don’t…
Mako: *ears fold back* Are you saying it IS her fault..?!
Lady: I’m not pinning blame on anyone except for the psycho who came to the island… If he didn’t show his face here everything would’ve been fine..
Bubble: *ears fold flat to her head, muttering to herself* ….. I waited too long.. I should have did it earlier…..
Mako: *ear perks up* What was that?
Bubble: *ears perk slightly* …. It’s nothing..
Mako: …. *watches her skeptically*
Officer: Mister Mako. We’re ready to question you..
Mako: Huh? O-oh, right… *gets up carefully and gives a kiss on Bubble’s forehead* I’ll be back.. *walks off*
Bubble: I’ll be waiting…. *watches as Mako walks off* ……….. Lady.. I..
Lady: Don’t. Not here…
Bubble: *hand clench, gripping her skirt* …. R-right....
    The next day after interrogation, Mako was let off and proven innocent with the help of the recorded audio provided by Lady. However, because of the nature of the fight once it reached the water, it was requested that Mako’s history was looked at in a background check. To which, he was perfectly okay with. Having stayed overnight for observation, Evergreen gave the okay for him to go home, as well as Daniel. He had no broken ribs or internal injuries. The only things left behind were bruises, thankfully. As Mako prepped to go home, he did a little bit of stretching to help the muscle in his tail.
Mako: These hospital beds are so uncomfortable on my fin… *cracks his back*
Bubble: *winces at the popping noise* … yeah. Thankfully you can rest all you like when we get back home… on a proper bed, heh..
Mako: *looks to her, his ears folding back* … Are you alright..?
Bubble: *nods and rubs the side of her neck* Yeah. I just want to go home..
Mako: … *walks over and gives her a gentle hug* Everything’s okay now… He’s gone, he can’t come back and hurt you again.. Hm, the restraining order helps on that part…
Bubble: *returns the hug, her hands gripping at the back of Mako’s shirt* Mmhmm.. I know..
Mako: *nuzzles the top of her head before taking her hand* Let’s go home.. Heheh, we can get some peace and quiet after all this..
    A few minutes later, after walking through the front door of their home.
Singe: OH. MY. GODDESSSES! Look who finally decided to show up! Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been? Not a phone call.. Nothing!
Bubble: *raises a finger* My phone got smashed so…
Singe: THAT’S NO EXCUSE! Ugh!
Mako: Singe, calm down! Can you not…. Do this.. *gestures to all of him*
Singe: You just gestured to all of me..
Mako: Yeah! Don’t be your natural crazy self and let us rest for a bit! We just got back from a night of being questioned by the cops..!
Singe: *ears perk* So there really was cops? What about Streak? Was he arrested? Or did the bastart finally die? What haaaaaappened?!
Mako: *deep breath* Okay…. He was arrested! On account of attempted assault on a mare, a pregnant mare, and assault on a minor. He was also wounded in the fight and a couple of the muscles attached to his wings were severed, so he won't be flying anytime soon.. He’s ALSO been slapped with a restraining order, so even if he did get out of jail, he won’t be showing his face around the island anytime soon.
Singe: Ha! Serves the dickweed right! Who tore up his wings? Was that you Mako?
Mako: *ear twitches* No, my nephew did that… B-before Streak slammed him into the wall, and the floor…
Bubble: *looks to the side, ears folded back* ...
Singe: Bloody hell…. Is he okay?
Mako: Yeah, he’ll be okay.. No bones were broken, so he walked away from the hospital with only bruises.
Singe: *sighs* That’s good to know.. And how is Lady doing?
Mako: *rubs the back of his head* She’s…. Okay..?
Singe: *squints his eyes* What do you mean “okay”?
Mako: She was very quiet at the hospital the entire time.. Evergreen said she and the baby were okay, but Lady just had this stone cold look on her face all night.
Bubble: *grimaces, her ears twitching* … Well, I think that wraps everything up… I’m exhausted.. I think I’m going to head to bed..
Singe: Oh.. okay.. *ears perk* Wait, what happened to your face?
Bubble: *ear twitches* …. Streak made a move to attack Lady and I took the hit… it’s nothing, just a bruise..
Singe: Woah, look at you! Being a little hero~ I didn’t think you had it in you!
Bubble: … heh.. Thanks…. *before heading upstairs*
Singe: ………. *glances at Mako* … Was it something I said?
Mako: *shakes his head* No.. I think she just wants to put this whole thing behind her…. And I don’t blame her… Hearing the full details of the fight in the hotel… *fists clenched tight* It sounded terrifying..
Singe: *ears folded back* …. Right. Sorry, I won’t bring it up again if you think it will help…
Mako: Just give it time…
*KNOCK KNOCK*
Mako: *groooooans* What now…? *answers the door, his ears perking up* Oh..! H-hi Lady..
Lady: Hi…
Mako: What are you doing here, I thought you’d be back in your hotel room by now..
Lady: *sighs* After what happened, Xhisrc thinks that our little vacation should be cut short.. We’re going home today, this whole situation just has him and the kids rattled..

Mako: *cringes at her dark joke* Oh jeez… Sure…
Lady: I uhm…. I came to say goodbye… And I wanted to talk to Bubble about something before leaving.. Where is she?
Mako: *points to the stairs* She’s in the bedroom. She was going to take a nap, but-
Lady: I won’t take long. *walks inside and heads straight for the stairs, completely ignoring Mako and Singe as she went up*
Mako: …… I can see the ice form under her hooves as she walks…
Singe: ….. Geez.. I can see what you mean.. I wonder what she wanted to talk to Bubble about… *stares at Mako*
Mako: …… *shivers* Knowing Lady, it can be anything… But I’m not going to pry.. If I did, she’d probably try to take my blubber.
Singe: *groans* You are no fun… Where is your sense of adventure? And besides.. No pony wants your nasty ass blubber..!
Mako: *snorts* Oooh, you know, my sense of adventure was splattered into the ocean, dragged across the sand.. Oh! And it’s now in the form of a BLOOD STAIN ON MY WOODEN FLOOR!!! *points to a spot by the couch*
Singe:........ You are so melodramatic.

    Mako dragged his paws up the steps as he made his way to the bedroom.
Mako: *opens the door* Okay, what do you need-- *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEAK!!!*
Imago: *sitting on the bed in her changeling form, ears folded back* Mako, dear.. The door…?
Mako: MmmmmMMMM!!! *gets inside and closes the door, locking it behind him* What the hell is going on here..?! Why are you out of transformation…?! In front of Lady..!!
Lady: *arms crossed* Calm down you crazy cod..
Imago: *looks down, ashamed* ….. I… W-what we told the police what happened in the hotel was a lie…. Daniel didn’t do that to Streak……. I did…
Mako: *ears perk up* Y-you…? But.. But how? Those injuries were from really sharp claws and teeth, how did you- ?! …… Oh no…..
Lady: *ear twitches* I didn’t know what I was looking at…. It was just a mix up of Bubble’s face and.. a Changeling…. *stares at Imago*
Imago: I.. I blacked out. The next thing I know, I’m staring down at Streak’s body and m-my.. My hands are… *looks down at her black chitin hands and sharp claws* … I don’t even remember falling out of my transformation.. But by that point, Lady had seen everything...
Mako: *looks at Lady*
Lady: …. I couldn’t do anything at the moment.. She was right next to Daniel, and I was on defensive, but… *rubs her belly* ……. I kept quiet about it, and wanted to talk to her as soon as possible.. *stares at Mako* I just had no idea you knew this entire time..
Mako: *ears droop* … Mmm…
Lady: I thought she was tricking you.. But, then she told me everything about the how and the why.. For taking Bubble’s form…. *looks to Imago* And then reassured me she meant no harm to you, or my family….
Imago: *ears perk* I would never…! Lady, you and your family are like family to me… Daniel and Annie like my own siblings and you… *ears folded back flat to her head* … you are like a sister to me.. I.. I’m sorry for not telling you, I was just… I’m so afraid of any one finding out… If ponies knew…
Lady: I understand… As much as I would’ve liked being told sooner, it’s just good to know that… this- *gestures to Mako* all of this, is real, and not an act…
Imago: I meant every word.. Every “I love you” and every hug and nuzzle and special memory…
Mako: *cheeks turn a little pink*
Lady: *smiles warmly* That’s good to hear.
    In that instant, Imago could feel waves of love flow from Lady. The same kind of Love she has had for Mako since the day they met as little foals… The same kind of Love she has for her kids.
Imago: *ears perk, her wings starting to buzz and flutter behind her* ….
Mako: *snickers and sits next to Imago on the bed, nuzzling her head*
Lady: *sits on Imago’s other side, wrapping a wing around her*
Imago: *her eyes start to water as she let out little chirp like hiccups, using her hands to cover up her smiling face and wipe away the tears*
Mako: Aaaw, Cricket, hehehe..~ *gently wipes away her tears* Are you crying?
Imago: S-shut up.. They are happy tears….. *sniffles* Ugh.. I hate this.. *hic* How do you deal with this all the time, heheh…
Lady: Deal with what, dear?
Imago: All these emotions at once..! For over two hundred years I didn’t have deal with any of these emotions… I mean.. *hic* How can you cry and be so happy at the same time?!
Lady: *snorts before she starts laughing* They’re a rollercoaster, aren’t they? *gently rubs her back* Better get used to it.~
Imago:*chuckles, letting out a chirpy hiccup* hmhmhm~ I’m trying… T-thank you.
Lady: *nuzzles her cheek and pets her head* Welcome to the family, Imago.~
Imago: *wraps her arms around Lady and hugs her gently, her wings buzzing loudly and hitting Mako in the face*
Mako: *SQUEAK!* H-honey, your buzzers going off!
Imago: *chirps and slows her wings down to a gentle flutter* S-sorry.. *rubs her eyes* I… got carried away, heheh~
Mako: *smiles and leans to give a gentle kiss between her wings* No problem. I think it’s adorable.~
Imago: !!! Mmm! *her face turning bright pink as she shivered, wings flaring out behind her*
Mako: *blinks a few times and griiiiiiins* Looks like I found another weak spot.~
Imago: *lets out a few flustered chirps* N-No! Not again..! *as she scrambles and hides behind Lady* And you wonder why I’m never in this form around you! All you do is tease me!! *puffy pink cheeks*

Lady: *puts a hand on Imago’s* And he won’t… No one will.. You have my word I will keep silent about this..
Imago: *slowly starts to relax again, her body untensing* …. Thank you… I’m sorry I put you in this situation..
Lady: *sighs, her ears drooping* As much as I don’t like keeping things from my family, I don’t know what their reactions would be like… I can’t completely trust it would go smoothly…
Mako: …. If anyone finds out… Imago wouldn’t be able to stay..
Lady: I know.. So I won’t say a word to anyone.. I promise.
Imago: … Thank you.. Both of you.. You have no idea how much this means to me….
Lady: *pets Imago’s head* I have a pretty good idea… *grins* I mean… You did say last night you wanted to live a long healthy life with Mako, didn’t you?~
Imago: …… Heh? I did?
Mako: *cheeks turn even pinker* Yeah.. Last night, in the lobby.
Imago: I.. uh…………… *face starts turning pinker and pinker* I….. umm……………… oh. I remember.
Lady: *grins even wider* Do I hear wedding bells already?~ *eyebrow waggles*
Mako: *SQUEAK!*
Imago: *face turns bright red with blush* I-I.. ummmm.. Hmmmm……… T-that would be nice…
Mako: *face is a deep red, quickly looking to the side to think* Mmmm..!
Imago: *clears her throat* I suppose that will be coming up pretty soon, hehehe~
Mako: W-what..?! *turns back around*
Imago: *ears perk* Did you forget Lady’s wedding is coming up soon?
Mako: *blinks* O-oh, right, hahaha! Heheh…. Hmm… I remember!

Mako: N-nothing, don’t worry about it, hehehe..! *looks at the clock* Is it time for Singe to take his pills already? I better go make sure he does that, hehehe..! *gets up and quickly leaves the room, making sure to close the door behind him*
Imago: *blinks a few times as Mako leaves* ….. Was it something I said? *looks at Lady*
Lady: *shrugs* Who knows with him. As strong as he is in the right situation, he is still a big chicken…
Imago: *snickers* Hmhmhm~ Perhaps, but he’s still everything to me~ If it wasn’t for him, I still wouldn’t be here…. Well.. here as Bubble at least.. I would have left a long time ago..
Lady: Hmm… *pats Imago’s hand* Then it’s a good thing he crashed into you when he did. Hmhmhmhm~
Imago: *smiles* Yeah. Funny how things like that happen~
