Description
New addition for my First Contact War universe.Today's stream was a bit awkward. I ended up messing around a lot in the first hours, and scrapping a piece that became too complex. Then I went to design another pony. Earth pony this time since I covered Unicorn and Pegasus already.
Wasn't sure what final finish I was going for, so I ended up a bit indecisive in the end. Both in colour and detailing. But it still allowed me to play around with colours. So many choices!!! Spend so much time just moving sliders around.
Still experimenting with how I can use this style. It seems to work really well with "miniature/figure" like paintings. But I do want to expand to stuff like action scenes.
Anywho, I'll probably end up doing a lot more, as I probably would do anyway...

Vision: Very simple compared to the other ponies yet not any less nice and for me a clear sense of an adventurer. Though simple there also is confidence radiating off her which I enjoy. If any vision was for a confident adventurer then successful.
Originality: MLP is fairly common anymore but the energy is unique to this artist as is the style and concept. It also is, to me, original to see a pony with such minimal background yet is still nice and pleasant to look at and admire.
Technique: Though little for landscape the tone down is a sort of welcome from time to time. The colors are nicely done for the grass, brown for the soil, the rocks are nice though the stone could had held a bit more gray tones mixed in but that is just my thought. They are still nice.
With the Earth Pony nicely done. Her color is nice with her blue mane and tail and the clothing is excellent. It astonishes me at how well you do with the detail attention to creases, bends, folds, and lines to demonstrate a realistic way fabric will move, bend, fold, and wrinkle.
The mane and tail both have nice detail showing nice individual strains demonstrating how her hair is neatly fixed back to stay out of her face almost a classic style feel to it with its swirl. The eyes are also nice very expressive and brings me to feel a calm feeling like if I were there that she would have everything in hand and taken care of. They are lovely and a lovely color as well.
The scarf around her neck is beautifully layered and nicely shaded and its brown to me is nice as it matches her leg wraps and doesn't take away from the nice dark/worn red of her dress or the dim gray I will say coat like shall over her back and shoulders. The colors of her outfit pair off nicely and I love how the small and larger more noticeable details aid in bringing about a realistic feel to the fabric of her clothing. The small saddlebag is also unique and different as I've never seen one that small before.
The only thing I can see that I wonder about, and if it is correctly done already ignore this as it is just a thought and I'm no expert, the front, be left leg when you look from her way but at her is the one on the right on the screen. If the light is in front of her, I suspect is sort of in front/off to the side based on her head being turned, reflection in the eyes. Should the leg that is back be a bit dimmer in shade at least as it gets closer to the ground? Just a small thought suggestion if it would aid in making it better.
The back legs are nicely done and well spaced and placed for a strong stance and show she is self-confident not one to be messed with or taken lightly when confronted about something she likes or someone she is close to. Wonderful and beautiful details all around.
Impact: Overall it still has me thinking about her character, personality, and how her voice would sound as well as tone of voice like other images do but this just feels like a nice break due to the lack of background and simple way the landscape was done. So though my mind is still going over its perhaps usual thinking over how a character would sound, behave, move, etc. just feels nice and relaxing with an enjoyed break for something broken down and simple yet at the same time not too simple.
Overall: Excellent work as usual with attention to detail and the eyes with the way can make the eyes so expressive in this style. The white background except for the pieces of ground that come up into it is a nice breath of fresh air to me anyways and is much enjoyed. The mare's expression and energy is wonderful and feels fresh. Wonderful work as normal.

This, and Unicorn Natura are both perfect works, so I just can't come to a decision as to which one is my favorite work of yours now. I am furiously looking at each, and your eye-works in both were amazing, your clothing is stunning, and the manes on each are beautiful!

You could make First Contact War into a sweet card game, since cards are cheap, wide-spread and mostly about artwork. That could give you money, self-realization andย more popularity in the community and beyond it while just doing what you love.
