New addition for my Season 6 Episode Art!Season 6, Episode 16: The Times They Are a Changeling

This was quite the interesting episode. A subject that might've been too deep to fully cover in one episode, and is rather more suited for a longer strung series of episodes. But it's nice to touch upon the idea of the changelings again. Besides that they showed some more about them as well, what they can change into or not, more specifically.
It's interesting to think about a single changeling being different, and what that means for all the others as well. How different is he, how exceptional is Thorax? Is he a mutation on the changeling, or a more common possibility. Maybe secretly all rocks are changeling all along. What would that mean for Maud and her pet rock?!
But the underlying topic can also be a serious or sensitive one. Being judged for the actions of others. Trying to prove your innocence, instead of being considered so in the first place. Although the ending, everyone did seem a bit cheerful all the sudden. Then again, two princesses and Spike the brave did vouch for him...
Artwise, today, though... I wasn't feeling it, sadface. So I derped more than usual, simplified the scene, and then realised I might've just gone with a different complex rather than simplifying it haha. So I ended up with this little bugger.
Anyhow, hope y'all still enjoy! I haven't been doing that well lately, this might slightly show that, but I hope it's still passable.

The episode seemed a little too rushed for me, but I loved that Spike finally got a chance for a solo song, and Thorax was adorable and such a great new character. His disguise, "Crystal Hooves," was also pretty cute.

Oh gosh, I couldn't stop squeaking over the baby changelings, especially Baby Thorax! He was just so cute!!💖
It is cool that we got to see this side of the changelings. I noticed Thorax wasn't just different in personality. When you look at his older form to that of the rest of the hive, I saw his back is green where all the other hive have blue backs. Wonder if that has to do with his character?

It's nice to see the studio echoing what many fans have wanted for so long, for the Changelings to be redeemed because they grow to be more then mindless drones that want to drain everyone. I feel it's more a natural mutation then the Queen loosing her powers or maybe not paying enough attention. I see foreshadowing to him trying to change the mind of his other broodlings and eventually the queen where he'll have to struggle with who he is and what he wants to become.

It's an interesting thought what their Early Stages look like
Now it really bugs me on how I can connect the Origin Story of the Changelings in the comic to the TV Series because in the Flashback Chrysalis was shown to have holes, in the comic this damage was done by Celestia but Thorax was shown to also have holes even given the fact that he was just born after the "Great Hole Massacre" by Celestia, this implies that either he received this holes from other confrontation that can cause injury or holes OR the Cananocity of the Comics is heavily put in question... man MLP is getting more complicated by the Episodes XD

You could always do what most of the fan base has done and throw out the comics or treat them as a separate continuity.

One theory I've had is that what Celestia did was more akin to a magical curse. Because after all, you can't really explain those holes in a medical sense; they wouldn't be able to even walk on those things realistically. I think it makes more sense that because of that magical attack, all changelings are now born with holes in them. At least, that's my theory.

For an evil parasite it's really cute as a hatchling, and the part of the shell/sack on its head makes a perfect bonnet for it. It looks a little fussy too but with such huge eyes that only makes it adorable. You did an awesome job bringing it to life with tremendous depth for its form and the scenery, and almost-rubbery texture gives it just enough of a weird feeling to give one pause before touching. Nicely done.

i prefer to think of their 'transformation' as a psychic field which merely interferes with perceptions, like some extension of telepathy, as opposed to actual poly-morphing.
