Description
"Although unique, it's not expected to be the only of its kind. The Keeper of the Wail resides in a remote cavern, the air thick from moisture and vegetation forming underneath it. Surrounded by sticky slime gathered around the platform's base, having formed strings from the ceilings, posing a real danger to any visitor. Not much is known about this weird creature by the Equine Empire. They've send explorers to gather more knowledge. It remains fairly passive until one approaches it. An aura slows one down when just walking towards, doing any more and it becomes clear how it can manage to survive. Holding a magic equally strong as the body is in size.
This however not being the strangest which ponies have claimed to find. Faint orbs come and go from the creature, only shortly visible until they merge with the Keeper or distance them self far enough.
Saying they recall horrifying cries of pain, anger and grief after touch, enough to force any in submission.
Few of the arcane schools hold high interest in even the existence of such a thing. Yet they stand strong behind their believes that this has a greater meaning or purpose. Thinking the, so called, orbs to be connected to others to the extend of holding knowledge about those.
The disappearance of researchers have persuaded many from future attempts, yet not all..."Some kinda world building for my "First Contact War". Been so focused on just creating (almost random) stuff for it. Interesting creatures, kinda letting my mind go wild.
This was was created after I made some random scribbles up and down hehe (the side panels), then it turned into a giant since I guess I like big beast. Have not done insect like that much so I went with that trying to create even more mystery and "unknown"
So fun to make these kind of things although they share less connection to MLP directly. However I am going to try and put some connection to the mystics around the Elements (of Harmony) or rather a mystery behind other elements (opposites, alternatives, additional, etc.)
I do also want to, still, get into the direct Equine or Gryphon area again. Which I've said multiple times before I guess heh, gotta make that veteran general equine.
Edit: changed the backstory a bit, changed some lines and removed some repeating words.

What i liked:
-the webs decreasing is size from further away gives the cave a good sense of depth. the fog also adds depth, it's efficient due to not having to put tiny details in.
-In the moth their is jagged edges and unevenness which makes him seem evil and not too nice, this adds to the impact.
___________________________________________________________________
What could be improved in my opinion:
-adding stalagmites and stalactites would make the viewer have more of a connection to the cave environment because of recognition.
-Usually caves are much darker with light beams from the ceiling if any, if this shone on the inside environment it would have a more white light with high contrast from the dark surroundings in my opinion. maybe light in the cave could also be achieved with bio-luminescent creatures.

short critique, hope it helped. I'm still a newb so what i say may be inaccurate.

Ooh the stalagmites and stalactites are certainly A good point and chance I missed out on. They'd fit fairly well here considering that with the slime and all it's probably quite moist there. Would make the ground around the pony and beast a bit less flat.
With the blue back light I'm not quite sure if that would be light passing through openings and perhaps through blueish slime blocking said holes. Or it being bio luminescent organism in which case I could've added some in the foreground just like the Stalagmites/stalactites.

I had some ideas for more, but never got to making designs for them yet.
Not sure how many of them there will be, but there's room for quite a few others I think.

The design is absolutely stunning, as is the work on the carapace, great ob all around.
I like the backstory too, thou Keeper of the Wail makes it sound like it's guarding/projecting one sound ver and over. Maybe make it Keeper of Wails/Grief? The again it's your fluff, so fee free to ignore this.
Can't wait for more ponies in armour

Positively frightening. This pony has some balls not to run away from the Keeper!
And- oh my god, are those the Keeper's paws clutching the platform?

Soon you'll have enough lure to rival Star Wars. Scratch that. Star Wars has metric tons of lure. But still. I can see this whole project becoming only lure, which would be mostly fine with me.

I've been having ideas and back stories for universes for so many years now and it's great to actually share it with others. If I manage to even fill just 1 book with this that would be one of the best things ever. Would so love to have that happen

Delivering those delicious Apple Pies to the keeper
Wouldn't want the Keeper of the Wail to wail over the loss of those sweet tasty apple pies.

Wish I could say I've seen that movie, since it was mentioned several times and it being a pre-Ghibli Ghibli. I can see where the connection comes from and the Nausicaä does look pretty awesome hehe.

It would be very interesting if Chrysalis would've met. Especially considering she devours love and this creature seems to do something similar with wailing. Which in turn is one of my explanations behind this creature and why it exists in the world.

I've done some sticky stuff like this before with saliva but I don't think ever at this scale. There also being moisture on the carapace creating that almost "wet" like texture besides the texture being different than most mammals have hehe.
Add in the little bumps and holes with insect hairs, it created some things that felt fresh and new to try out.

I don't know a thing about art critique, but I do know about writing critique, and it's my advice that you're going to want to find a little more variation for your description there. Strange, odd, eerie, spooky, unnerving, unearthly... The choices are yours; just don't use the same word over and over.

Oh gosh I had not spotted my use of 'weird', I try to keep the re-use in mind which I managed with some words but this one just slipped through. Thanks for the heads-up, I might just go and change that because it can also bother myself a bit to read repeating words hehe.

It looks like what the centipede boss would have looked like as a poison type instead of fire.
It also looks a little like an Ohm from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds, since they live in the toxic forests.

Centipede Demon would look roughly the same. Except with an undead dragon texture to it and glowing..purple? Green?
He'd probably be in the Blighttown swap too.
