This episode heh. That was quite a sudden introduction to an entire family right at the beginning of the episode! That inclusion of Rainbow Dash, though, bwhahaha. The horse sounds, the reactions. Oh my gosh.
But the brother, some of his action were a bit over the line for me. Destroying other folk's stuff?! No... just no, c'mon, Zephyr plz. That hurt my feelings right there, the poor voices of the parents.
Aside from that, the rest of his behaviour can definitely make you peeved. But like was shown, that can be a protective shell to a deeper problem or issue. One that needed to be addressed. And the thing is, it's small steps that make it happen. Just like with many lessons, take small steps, keep moving forward, keep improving yourself. It's different for everyone, and everyone handles stuff in different ways, but there's almost always still a good valuable character underneath. Just needs some effort to reveal.
Overall, an interesting episode, little fun background details revealed, from the house, to the family, and little other Easter eggs.
Also, I don't upload a lot of Fluttershy pieces, so I wanted to at least include her. Winged the style a bit, though, but I partially referenced an older piece Apple Coated
Looking at how "fast" I finished this, I did feel like I didn't work as clean as I could, but heh... I guess it's one of those days?
Either way, hope y'all enjoyed this little adventure with little ponies again!

Wow, those eyes are so detailed. They seem to draw me in closer. And it almost seems like she is breaking the 4th wall, but in a way that leaves it up to debate as to whether she is, or if it's just somepony taking her picture. She's looking at someone, but is it the watcher, or a pony?

Ah yes, Flutters and her little brother Zephyr, also known as Slacker Pony, Lazy Slug, Freeloader Foal and The Jerk. He is so annoying and self-absorbed that he's entertaining. I see a lot of my younger self in him, minus the perpetual stubble beard.
Your artwork is amazing as always. Very photoreal and it pops right off the screen.

This episode was certainly a step up from the previous week's massive disappointment and I also liked it much more than Newbie Dash. Yes, I'd say Dave Rapp has managed to redeem himself. This episode not only dealt with a problem that hadn't been dealt with in the show before, but also introduced a new character in a way that didn't seem like an asspull. Sure, we only just met Fluttershy's family now, but I loved how every character seemed to already know Zephyr Breeze when they interacted with him in the episode. That means he had either already met them before at some point or Fluttershy had talked about him off-screen and that's much more realistic than everyone suddenly acting surprised that Fluttershy has a brother they've never heard about. Twilight has lived in Ponyville for over five years now and all her friends have known each other even longer, so it would have been ridiculous if they'd only met or heard of Fluttershy's brother now.
Zephyr was a very unlikable character at first, but he grew on me in the end. He acted all confident when others asked him about his recent failures, but that's exactly what it was - an act. I lived with my mother until I was 20, so I could relate to Zephyr somewhat (although I'd like to think I wasn't as big of a pain as him) and who hasn't felt like quitting sometimes because they were afraid of failing? Also, since Fluttershy's parents seemed to be even bigger pushovers than their daughter, I completely understood why Zephyr had never learned to be independent.
Speaking of Fluttershy, she was fantastic in this episode. It seems all her assertiveness lessons have finally had a lasting effect and I really hope it will stay that way. I like Fluttershy just fine, but her learning the same lesson over and over again had become very boring and I'm glad that she seems to be past that now. That's why I think this was one of her greatest episodes ever. She knew she had to intervene on her parents' behalf and she spoke her mind, but she wasn't a bitch about it like she sometimes has been when she's taken her assertiveness too far. All her snide, passive-aggressive remarks to Zephyr were hilarious and it was touching how she really seemed to believe in him even though he kept disappointing her. That's real family love.
Rainbow Dash was great too. I always like her when she's not being, well, herself and acts nice and shows that she really cares. That said, I can't really blame her for bolting out on Fluttershy when Zephyr hit on her one too many times. I also can't blame her for shoving Zephyr into a thundercloud. He certainly had it coming at that point.
The song was pretty cute. It wasn't a masterpiece, but it had a cool message. I have no idea how Zephyr transformed a bunch of leaves and grass into hair just by cutting it, but hey, I'm not a hair stylist.
All in all, the episode was very good with its lesson, humor, dialogue and characterization. 8.5/10.
As for this picture, it's also very good. Fluttershy may look annoyed, but I think that manestyle really suits her. Zephyr does have some real talent after all.

I kinda thought the episode was very relatable. Seen it, had it happen to me. Even the destroying of stuff. Seen people who are simply uncaring of roomies for other stuff. Damaging furniture, dishes, electronics, vehicles, tools, and more routinely and giving zero care. Especially if other roomies/family wouldn't stick up for themselves.
Not to mention, he was basically one of my siblings in a nutshell. Kept coming back, parents offered him free college. Never went. Asked him to get any job at all, even minimum wage mcjob or part time and he could stay. Kept this up to the age of 28 till he finally got the permanent boot and the rest of his brothers and sisters said no to him shacking up. Surprise, got a job, got tired of low wages and is about to finish school.
It was rough, and there was no easy answer but the one thing reigning true was. He was extremely ungrateful for the burden that got carried for him. Rent, bills, including car payments and insurance picked up. Tickets he'd get covered. Would pitch a fit when parents informed him his stuff was now only going to be allowed to take a single room instead of an entire four room basement. And neither of his other siblings got offered free college. Wouldn't have THAT been nice.

Agreed, but it's apparent that Rainbow Dash is used to Zephyr being so annoying and pushy. She just rolls her eyes and lets it roll off her hooves.

You did a perfect job capturing the heated annoyance on our favorite ground-Pegasus' face, and with the tight body language and expressive eyebrows especially. Meanwhile this sweet brother of 'shy looks fabulous and so very cheerful. (I haven't seen the episode yet, but your portrayal makes me think he'd get along with Pinkie Pie like gangbusters.) Wonderful detail work, color and shading so beautiful on both. Also excellent job on the background, with nice depth-of-field to frame them nicely without giving up any detail. Terrific stuff!

The expression you put on Fluttershy is a bit mild compared to what we saw on the show but I love that you drew this scene. It was so amusing when he put her hair up in a bun.

His actions are exactly the way my sister acts. She's literally done everything he's done, except change. We know she won't change because she doesn't do it because she's afraid of failing, she does it because she's just plain mean and enjoys being mean.
