Might not have had an episode this Saturday, but that doesn't mean I can't do episode art right?!Since I'm planning on covering a bunch of the finale (during the Saturday Livestreams), I thought it would be nice to make that what I see a lot and I didn't do last week myself.
I've also seen several folks already expecting a battle scene from me eventually and I guess here it is! Hope I didn't disappoint.
This one was fun to do as always, creating a low camera large scale character. Brings me back to the Timberwolf Emperor I made almost a year ago already. Done plenty other large beasts as well though.
Anyhow, hope y'all enjoy and bathe in the season 4 aftermath. We can fill up this empty time!
PS: I'll put together the time lapse video for this tomorrow or something, need to get those going again.

Edit: Added a 1440p version. I don't know how common it's yet, but if there's enough interest I'll see to saving that size a bit more over time perhaps.

Why is it that Lord Tirek really reminds me of the Cyberdemon from Doom in this picture? In any case, it's very dynamic and bold and awe-inspiring!

I'm not sure where to begin with my compliments for this picture. I suppose I could start with the insane level of detail you put into drawing things like the feathers on Twilight's wings, or the fur on Tirek's centaur legs. I could start with the chilling mood lighting, that baleful scarlet glow which sets the tone for this intense, terrible battle between magic demigods (because Twilight might as well have been that during the fight, even if she didn't quite know how to use her powers in full). I could start with the way you've depicted Twilight's raw emotional trauma and righteous fury as she fights back against this seemingly-unstoppable monster, refusing to be broken. I could start, even, witht he way you rendered the glowing magic on Twilight and Tirek's horns, and how it stands out from the rest of the scene.
Or, I could simply say that this picture rocks. End of story.

This = epix. Β The perspective on it makes Tirek look impressive - like he's Barad Dur with Saurons Eye on top. Β Twilight is looking quite intense too! Β I only wish for a bit more detail in Tirek's face, but as it is now the obscuring of details just makes his face look that much more lofty - towering up in the distance.Β

Perfect angle. The lighting was wonderfully done, giving the sunset like darkness the show presented. I love the minimalist design on Tirek's face, very devilish to add to his already Satanic look here.

Who is awesome? You are! Extreme piece! The lights are well placed and the contrast between Twilight and the scene itself is great! The anatomy from Twilight's wings to both character's pose is incredibly well done and appealing! Loved this painting so much... I got my eyes on you now, hahaha!

The scene is very powerful and I feel like I'm in the middle of it. It's fantastic to see Twilight so aggressive. I can almost feel the strain of her body and her muscles fighting as she prepares to spring with all her might; then there's her fierce expression as she musters up her magic to combat this towering monster. This has everything: perspective that gives a real feeling for how incredibly large this monster is yet doesn't make Twilight look tiny or weak (at all); the action really comes out at the viewer; and the colors and lighting set a very eerie and dangerous mood. This fight is for keeps.

Why couldn't the battle have had dramatic angles like this?Β
It felt so... flat.Β There was really no sense of menace or danger.Β Just two OP characters blasting away at each other until Tirek remembered he had Twi's friends to threaten her with.
Even DBZ changed things up with the camera angles now and then.

Wow! This piece is rather stunning and I just love how imposing it is! The character design is amazing and I love the way that you decided to craft Tarik to look extremely intimidating and the angle that you have captured truly gives testament to the scale in which this battle is taking place! The complete desolation of the piece is simply breathtaking and the way that you set the scene is brilliant! I love the atmosphere and the way that it resonates with the gorgeous lighting and shading to make everything dark and filled with depth! Also, the emphasism and detail that you included in the textures such as the fur give this piece glorious life!
