This isn't even too far out - there are many cultures that didn't understand the technologies brought in by explorers for example. Β They often believed they were gods or godlike.

A long time ago, in a universe far, far, far, far, pharaon away...
There was a Pharaon who pharaoned its pharaonic people to do pharaonic jobs such as serving the pharaon, bring gifts to the pharaon, worship the pharaon, and many other pharaonic things. The pharaon however believed that he's not pharaonic enough so he pharaoned himself out of the pharatmosphere and reached the pharaon starship. There, he found out that he can't get back to his pharaonic perfectly land and died of a pharaonic disease named Pharaonicthyosis. Then this Universe collapsed.Β
