Description
I never really understood why most the UT fanbase, or at least most content-creating fans, believe that Sans remembers resets. Especially when they claim he can even recall true resets, something not even Frisk is capable of. I mean, I get that theres a lot of mystery surrounding Sans (a unique magic type, a mysterious machine, unknown past, links to W. D. Gaster, etc.), but simply saying "he remembers resets" just seems to raise more questions than it answers. Questions like "how does sans have an ability directly tied to determination if he's so unmotivated most of the time? Why doesn't he ever use this knowledge to, say, stop you from completing a genocide run? Why does he pretend to be reading your expression? And, as Sans mentions above, why would he continue to use the same attack patterns across resets if he remembers doing them? If he somehow is full of determination, then why does he die in one hit when it has already been established that monsters that have a lot of determination can persist after death (Undyne, Amalgamates, Flowey (think about how many times you needed to hit him even at LV 20))? And how could he remember a previous true genocide run if Chara erases the entire world, not just everyone's memories?Honestly, I think all of Sans actions make a lot more sense if he simply knew OF the resets from the reports he mentions in the genocide battle, and uses this knowledge to set up various systems and techniques to deduce when a reset has occurred. This explanation not only explains all the things about Sans that having him remember resets does without raising additional questions, but in my opinion, makes Sans even more of a badass then simply having him be powerful. After all, it's not as much of a challenge to fight someone who can turn back time if you don't lose anything when they do it (in fact, you'd actually regain your stamina from before the battle, as well as getting a quick breather to organize your thoughts)

Well he does slightly... but then again so do the rest of the major bosses... especially Asgore.

Oh? Where is your evidence for this? Remembering resets is tied to determination, and sans suffers depression...

you want examples.
If you reset Toreil will vaguely recognize you.
Papyrus will have a sort of deja vu movement a few times.
Asgore will get more depressed the more times he kills you.
ect.

I know that. But what evidence is there that SANS remembers anything?

LOL This is absolutely perfect. And yeah, I don't get why everyone seems to think that Sans can remember everything from the resets. It kind of makes him look like an overpowered Gary Stu if you ask me.

Only Flowey remember resets, Sans just know their existence

Exactly. And all the monsters have vague memories of past timelines. Sans is just the only one who knows what they actually are.
