Description Smilodon fatalis was a large species of cat and an apex predator of its time. It was smaller than its close cousin, S. populator, which had a large distribution in South America. S. fatalis is known from North, Central and possibly South America as well.

This Saber-tooth enjoys a freshly mauled juvenile Eremotherium laurillardi, a giant sloth that also conquered North, Central and South America during the Pleistocene. An adult Eremotherium would most likely be harder to bring down, but a juvenile- while also a pretty big animal in comparison - might lack the defensive skills and knowledge.
