Beautiful! He is a cheeky little thing isn't he? I had a horse of 25 years named Matisse but not because of the art - he was named for the characteristic Border Collie in the movie "Down and Out in Beverly Hills".
This piece is done just wonderfully. Lots going on with a lovely feel to it and great balance overall. You start to feel for the birds and then notice how unconcerned they look like "haha we know you can't get us!"

I love this painting. It reminds me of my cat Mo when he was younger and would bother the finches I had in an aviary. Now Mo's old and there is only one bird (Cheeks) left and they now tolerate each other. lol

cats cannot help themselves, my old cat Rembrandt still comes alive when he sees the flutter of a bird, its a very strong instinct

How funny. As long as I have my cat I will never be able to get birds. She hates them....she even tucked a baby bird in my night shirt once. Not a fun day.
This looks great btw. I love the colors, shading and you did a fantastic job on the detail.

What a cheeky cat you have, but they cannot help it, its pure instinct. My cats are indoor cats and I cannot keep birds either. This was a friends bird.
Thanks for the great comment

Thats reminds me, my mother did have a litle parrot, blue one, and he used to sit on her shoulder. When she was talking, he used to put his forehead on her cheak and listen and learn. He was able to say more than 300 words, even parts of nursery rimes that she used to talk to him. So much love was in that litle creature!
Take this remind as a coment for Your beautiful painting!

I also have a cat who loves to harass my pet parakeet. Only difference is, he is now too fat to be able to get on top of the bird's cage. He just paws at the bottom and tries to pull the cage down instead.
Cute piece.
Also, you fooled me yet again. I thought that it was a photo when I first glanced at it.
