Description 16 x 20inch Acrylic on plaster

Another experimental plaster work.[link]

A bed of plaster with plastic bags pressed into it while wet.
When dry pulled plastic off which creates an interesting surface.

From there I go with the flow.

Holy...

You should do more experimental work for sure!

I really like the texture and the pattern created. It's almost like... an effect you can do digitally, but this is so much better because it's traditional and done by hand!

Lovely colours too. It reminds me of copper and such. Don't know why, though.

Plus its different to digital as it is slightly 3D , there are grooves and hollows, dips, very tactile which this photograph of the work cannot show. Thanks for your encouragement, DA has certainly reactivated my imagination, and your positive feedback and feature has definitely helped give me get some confidence back,

It's a stunning look. I have to try this sometime. How thick is the plaster? And is it mounted on a board or something? -I've never worked with plaster before so I have no idea how fragile this would be.

The plaster is about 1/2inch thick. I used an old frame nailed some masonite on the back, mixed plaster of paris and poured it onto the frame. Then while its still wet lay crumpled plastic shopping bags onto it. Wait a day and take off plastic. Voila and off you go. You can carve into if you wish, just dont drop it, it which break. Have fun, would love to see your results.
