Description 12 x 16 " oil on canvas

Part of "Bella Italia" exhibition.

It had been raining which created wonderful reflective surfaces. Have a fascination with rainy days at the moment, it creates a different atmosphere which I am trying to capture.

Nice lighting feel, you've really caught the wet effect on the street.

thankyou for taking the time to comment, I am pleased you like it. I have tried a more painterly approach by restricting myself to 1 inch brush for the majority of the painting and the last half an hour a fine brush. I usually work with small brushes and work very detailed so this was quite a challenge.

But it's really paying off, you people make me feel guilty the amount of work you do!

I don't have a family so I have plenty of time. When I am working on detailed super-real work it can take up to 3 months to complete one work. Its about the quality of the work that really counts and that's what I see in your work.

Your work is excellent, dont worry about quantity, I can see by your work that you spend a lot of time painting.

True but I crack up after awhile, I want to get on.But your nearest and dearest can be a pain, sometimes I'd like to send them all on a long vacation to get things done in piece and I only have a partner, one dog and one new puppy to contend with.
This is a great series of pieces your doing

Thankyou for your positive comments on the series, I appreciate them very much. As an artist I have a lot of self-doubt when exploring other methods. I am never satisfised.

All I want is to paint ONE masterpiece before I die, but it is very illusive.

Don't we all, but I think the way your going you may paint more than one!

Thankyou, you are toooo kind. It's the challenge that keeps pushing us that bit further and onto the next painting. Maybe the next one will be the one.

There was a lot of detail in the photo I was working from, so trying to par them down and keep it painterly was the challenge. Thankyou for your comment

Hmm...

There really is something about this piece that captures you. I like how you've managed to include every detail, no matter how minute. The proportions of the subjects are brilliant and it's quite interesting how you've tried to portray the dampness of things.
