Description
I really can't think of a title for this.I was trying to think of ideas for a Christmas card and ended up with this instead: The gate room window in Atlantis. To be illuminated from behind.
Credit for the lineart goes to RogueDragon. Thanks, dude!

That is amazing! You don't mind if i perhaps steal the idea to make my friend/myself a candle holder?

Glad you like. It was fun to make. I'd like to make more SGA papercraft fanart, I'm just waiting for a good idea.

Glad you like!
Someone else asked how I made this, I'll copypaste:
It's not that difficult to make once I figured out how. I took the lineart from RogueDragon's post, adjusted the size, reduced the color from grayshades to black/white and printed it on some transparent paper that I still had lying around. Then I colored the backside with yellow and orange markers, cut a window shaped hole in some dark cardbord (indigo looks best), and glued the transparent paper in the back. Voilà.
(adding that I read that laser printers can't handle transparent paper... don't know about that, mine had no problem with it.)

so for the transparent paper, could I use tracing paper?

Yeah, that should work (though I can give no guarantees, of course...) It just shouldn't be too light to go through the printer - so not the cheap, very thin kind of tracing paper. The paper I used was about the same weight as normal laser printer paper.

It's fun to make, too. I enjoy paper crafts, it's a nice change from drawing.

Heh. Thanks. I really love doing... I guess it's called papercraft? Really fun. Must see if I can think of something else Atlantis-themed.

Hey, I'm happy that you like where I took your art. And thanks again. I was googling for screencaps of the window and couldn't believe my luck when I found that drawing. Serendipity. I dunno if I would've made this card if I had to create the window from scratch. That must have been a hell of a lot of work.

That is a terrific idea!
Damn; How did you manage the great shapes and detail. Looks like genuine stain glass!

It's plain old transparent paper, the kind you use for technical drawings (well, before computers). I fed it into my printer and then colored it on the backside with Pantone markers. (I'm just glad someone else had gone through the trouble to make the lineart, and the graciously allowed others to use it in their art. I don't know if I would've had the patience.)
