Description
This is my entry to The-MYST-Gallery 's "Myst Makers" competition! This also means that you could win this piece as a prize in a future competition of that group! Learn more here: the-myst-gallery.deviantart.co…The D'ni Light Box depicts a view of Kerath's Arch as seen from a balcony on the cavern wall (I've taken some creative liberties, in that this exact balcony does not necessarily exist). I formed the detailed shapes of the fence, peninsulas, and the arch itself using the laser cutter at a local public MakerSpace. The finished piece is backlit with orange LED strip lights to simulate the glow of the D'ni lake.

This is so awesome!! It gives off such a warm, calm light, like when you shine a light through thin stone (and Dn'i is surrounded by it!)
Is this for a window? It sure would be cool to see THIS outside every once in a while!

I've seen some pretty amazing light boxes out there but never even considered using it for a D'ni scene. Excellent idea and wonderful execution!

Beautifully done. The light box idea lends itself perfectly to cavern art. Great idea, and I love the result.

It's absolutely gorgeous!! What materials did you use?
(and thank you for reminding me about the contest)

Thank you! The shapes are cut from white card stock and separated by layers of foam core board around the border. The box itself is just a store-bought 5x7 inch shadow box. Oh, and I learned the effect of the reflection in the water below from a YouTube tutorial!
