I'm not sure if I like this anymore! I did at first, but I've stared at it for too long. This is another duel with . The theme was "jade". I should've done a fanart of the mortal kombat character.. haha. This is kinda a mix of some of the definitions for the word jade. Vaguely, anyway. I did use the color too!!jade- noun:
1 : a broken-down, vicious, or worthless horse
2 a : a disreputable woman b : a flirtatious girl
jade- verb:
1 a : to wear out by overwork or abuse b : to tire or dull through repetition or excess
2 obsolete : to make ridiculous
intransitive verb : to become weary or dulled
I was going for the disreputable woman/wear/weary/tire/dulled kinda idea. Blah..

I love the way, her skin reflects the color of the background.

She does really look quite jaded.
Harrowed in fact.
That there are remnants of beauty in this waifish girl implies something over time has taken it away. That's good because it begs a story, by way of explanation. Drug abuse, prostitution, prison, school dinner lady? Whatever shes been through it's fun trying to read her life from the visual clues.
The brightness of the cyan backdrop and her dyed orange hair makes the vibrancy of the piece ironic, especially as the only colour to her pallid skin is the wonderful way in which you have reflected the coloured light onto it. Even her eyes have no colour or an iris which as though worn away or over used or oblierated by the wearing forces on whatever path she's taken.
Because it is cartoonish this offsets the pathos and leaves a touching bitter sweet caricature. Altogether a success.

Its difficult to be critical of something when you've been looking at it for so long isnt it. She definately looks like the kind of person you were going for though. personally, she reminds me of one of those women you occasionally see who is about 50 years old but trying despirately to retain her youth by dressing like all the 'kids'. I think its the eyes! You've got a really good atmosphere with this piece. Great stuff
