"El Blanco Zorro, The White Fox." He is a male Acrctic fox with a tiny grey tip to his tail.Totally Finished, 9/27/10

He has 'Gator' eyes, is weighted, stuffed, and is super-de-duper soft. I up loaded all of my in-progress pix of him to my MySpace page.

I think the eyes look cute like that. They are such a vibrant green! He has rather large paws, it seems. Although they add to his cuteness. I think you did an excellent job on him! ^^

Thanks. I didn't do anything to his paws to enlarge them, I don't do that cuz they look unrealistic and goofy/infected looking when plushed...lol. They were skinned out to the nails, and turned inside out, I guess to be super sure they tanned properly. Once turned rightside out, they kind of held that ballooned-widened shape although they are pretty heavily furred which only further exaggerates their appearance. X)

I got SUPER lucky. I got the pelt from the same person(my friend -a trapper and fur buyer/seller) I got my ermine, & bobcat kitten from. He had the arctic, and sold it to me pretty cheap. But he knew it wasn't in good shape. "Zorro" also had holes in his face, a stretched eye, and had a matching tear in his back and in his belly that was 8-10inches long each. They were poorly sewn, so I had to take all that stitching out and do it over. Looked like someone sworded the pelt through. I also had to work out some major fur mats. But I prefer the 'sad' pelts. Those are the ones that need the love.

You really are! And you've done such a good job fixing it if it was that bad O.o You always do such good jobs on your pelts ^^
Dose he ever sell any of the pelts on taxidermy.net, and does he do opossums or raccoons? I'd love a mountable pelt XD

He doesn't leave the feet on anything that has 'meaty' feet like possums, coons, muskrats, beaver etc. I have scolded him for it and specifically asked him to do me a coon and a 'rat' with the tail left on cuz I am specifically looking for a coon to plush for my son for x-mas, and I want a 'rat' cuz they are so cute and pudgy! - but he won't due it cuz he's afraid if the feet are torn up or ruined during tanning, I won't want it (and it's true...lol) and he would have waisted his time for nothing, so he won't take the time to do so, cuz he sells the furs in huge lots over seas or to furriers. *sigh* He's not nasty about it, and I understand his point of view. BUT he did tell me that if he comes across any to buy from a tannery or from his taxidermist, he said he'll get a few. I don't 'think' he bothers with possums, cuz they are not good sellers, and from what I've seen, the fur is better left on the animals. I'm afraid I'm a thorn in his side about that feet thing tho...lol, and since he makes his living doing nothing other then this, I can't convince him otherwise. He is not currently on Taxi.net, but he may join. I told him about it, and he said he's set for now, but if need be, he'll join in time.

I see what he means, and that's too bad... I'd love to find one of those... Also, rats are susceptible to horrible fur slip... I skin animals like these are they are really easy, but I'm not sure how good they are for tanning, so he could be right about that part.

I meant muskrat - I just used 'rat' for short, but you knew that? He has 100's of tanned muskrats, but non with tails or legs.

Man... that must be annoying... You might be able to buy replica feet and tails some where, but that would only be good for a life-sized mount v.v you should nag him to skin them properly XD or skin one your self?

I'm too much of a wuss to skin anything, and don't have anywhere in or out of the house that would suit my needs. And the $ is to fix my car. I live 18miles from anything AND everything, so I need to get my poor car fixed. It will turn 18!

It's actually not as bad as it seems... I can't stand seeing blood on hospital dramas on TV, but skinning I'm oddly fine with O.o

And what the HECK would I do with a giant dead 'DOG' anyhow...lol? Toooo big to ship, to expensive to be sold?! I love my car anyhow- and a wolf wouldn't fit in it...lol

LOL - that's an option. The only thing I could think of was to rent it out on Halloween night to the wealthy who have big halloween bash's - I would give it electric yellow eyes. and charge 250.00 per party.

I think the gator eyes work pretty well too! I WAS going to use metallic silver and red shark eyes, but thought these were better.

It was from for a tiny red fox pedestal. I heavily altered it, cuz it was too small for the acrtic! {8-p It was so small, it was comical. It wasn't even for a red fox kit - it had an adults face. It would fit a red fox if there were such things as mini's...lol

Thanks. His forehead is slightly too sloped, and his eyes are little closer together then they should be... but he's mine. Kind of cutsie, so I don't care...lol - I just love him! Not bad for altering a red fox head tho!

Yeah. I had to find an alt. head form, didn't have the money for the only life size arctic VanDykes.com had. I think the form was like 60-70$! Too much to spend on my own soft mount, just for the HEAD..lol.
