Description
Considerations:-Dalmasca is hot (ie dress for the heat)
-She needs to be able to move
-She's a princess
-She means business
My problem with Ashe's current outfit has to do with decency. I don't mind showing skin so long as it's tasteful and the character still can move. While I agree that her high-slit booty skirt does allow for mad mobility, she can't do anything without flashing someone! Hence the hotpants-chaps things. I dunno. Originally they were a lot more risquΓ© (no shorts, just half-pants all the way down), but then it looked like armor-babe-lingerie.
I skimmed down her top a lot because her current outfit also makes her look very hippy. She still has largish hips in this picture, but at least it's a little more balanced. I also raised the top's top hem (you know what I mean) because the one she has now, the gold bit is the only thing covering her nipples. Double-sided tape or something has to be involved. Seriously, imagine her jumping in front of the boys.

I like my distraught chibi Vossler running after her. I sort of threw him in as an afterthought because as I finished this picture, I realized that she's actually more exposed than in her previous outfit. But, BUT...she can sit down without embarrassment! Whoo!

Nah, I had to add a pseudo-thong in front of it and completely cover her ass in skintight pink leather. There is nothing sluttier than the implication of sluttiness.

I really hope if their is a new game, she wears this, it's looks so much better, practical....I love her original outfit all right and the armor it has, and I really hate using this word, but may have to call it gaudy actually. This one shows just the right amount as well as just looking great, not to mention the color choices are awesome.
I WOULD like to point out however that her eyes are actually brown. The green eyes matches the rest of her outfit but just nitpicking

Actually I was wrong too; her eyes are grayish. Her eye color for some reason is always different in so many pics, but if we're looking straight at how she is in the game, they are gray/silverish.

Why aren't you costume designing for Squeenix? This is FAR better than Ashe's original outfit, with better shoes too.
The chaps look AWESOME! It suits her far better to be practical rather than girly as the original costume makes her look.

Ashe is probably one of my favorite characters, ever. But her outfit is ridiculous. And you made one that looks awesome. and Final-Fantasy worthy. Hell, it would fit right into the more oldschool games. xD So, you rock.

I like how you redesigned her outfit- it's a bit more... I dunno, practical? xD;; She doesn't have to worry about flashing anyone, and the lack of actual pants allows for quick mobility.

That's GOT to be the reason why her miniskirt doesn't flip up and flash people. It's the only explanation that makes sense!

I WOULD poke Fran except that the viera as a whole just seem to dress that way! I'll give her the stiletto heels because her feet are just shaped like that, and while her bustier is low, it's not SO low that hopping would cause her to pop out--I mean, remember Lulu? GodDAMN, they animated those jiggling boobs!
I do remember, though, having Fran at the head of the pack, and my mother watching her run and laughing.
"In the Muslim countries, that would be obscene!" She said.
"Iiiiii think it's kind of obscene here too," I said back.
"So why are you having her run?"
"To see that graphic engine move! Look at that hair!"
A practical outfit plus stilettos seems like an impossible concept, but I suppose I could give it a shot since Basch's costume, while looking flat-out ridiculous in my eyes, also steadfastly refuses to change.

the fancy bits were neat, but with a voice like her's(Raine ftw) and the diction she uses and the fact that we're living in an alternate 17th century type world, the skank-alicious-ness seemed out of place.
i mean seriously, every time she said "Resistance not insurgence"
it was like "haha! oh wait, it's serious-time."
and every time i used heaven's wrath, which is a LOT, we see just how little coverage she gets, and we forget to pay attention to the sparklies. : (
Penelo already has mad dips on the chaps thing as far as i'm concerned, but ashe's are on the inside, so i'll let it slide.

I hate Penelo's hair, but her costume really IS the most practical of the XII girls. I totally agree with you on the diction and character being at complete odds with her costume--at least the bottom half of it. As long as those scenes are from the waist up, I don't care. A full body shot, however, makes me go ARGH!
And Heaven's Wrath, it must be upskirt fanservice. Or something. I hope she wears underwear, for no other reason than the prevention of sand in uncomfortable places.

Har har I also hate it how impratcial and fanservice a lot of female char costume designs are. Oh well that's what we get when such concept art postions are male dominated and for a male audience(at least make THE GUYS shirtless and with tight shorts, then again some games do have that).
meanwhile some concept artsist rack thier brains making a common enemy monster with proper anatomy and such.

I totally love this outfit design! Of course I liked Ashe's orignal outfit, but when I was playing the game, I thought, "Damn, what if she has to bend over? And how does her shirt NOT reveal something that shouldn't be revealed(not like, Vaan, Balthier, or Basch would mind!)
But yeah, those pant thingies are awesome! I'd like to see you do some of the other character's outfits, becuase you're awesome at it!

I really want to do Basch's next, but I can't figure out what the heck to for his pants, because the long shorts he has are actually pretty sweet. They fit his frame. I just don't like the keyhole on his chest much... And that multicolored crosshatch potholder thing that serves no logical purpose.
And I miss his scruffy beard and hair. I don't know why.
