I've been doing so much graphic work this past few weeks that I'm worn through and I needed a little break, so I sketched a fun little silly something for no reason tonite.The sketch is based off a photo of a BJD named Petsha from the Dream of Doll website www.dreamofdoll.com
I didn't really like her "jewelry" so I changed it up.
It's an odd size (8x12.5) because I used a scrap of vellum britsol that I had left over from something else. Mechanical pencils, HB & 2B. Did it through four episodes of Darker Than Black
so I guesstimate it took around 2 hours. Colored the eyes and tinted the lips with Photoshop; might do a more fully colored version later.

That's such an inspiring face. I have a weird affinity with doll like anatomies. Those details are heavenly, especially the brooch that's holding her dress together. Delicious. And I can stare into those eyes for hours. Would you have coloured them traditionally, say with watercolours?

I know, I just adore those BJD faces!! And the clothes... aaaghh the clothes! It's fun to sketch them. I made up that broach, I don't think it's exactly correct

Everything is gorgeous and it's great that you had fun <3 washing watercolour over graphite is produces a GORGEOUS effect. My first try was a bit unsuccessful though as I laid on the workable fixative way too heavily

Do you think if I lightly spray it with workable fixative that I'll still be able to paint over it..?

I think I might try to color it in better when I get some more time, and I need to change her arm, the one facing the viewer; it's far too thick, blech. Thanks for your sweet comments, you're always so encouraging to me!!

Aww it's just a simple little thing. The paper lends itself to smearing with a tissue VERY well; I only have to lay down a bit of graphite and schmeeeaarr, done. It's not a very good way to do ligit drawings but it's good for sketchies
