very good, don't ya just love Illustrator?..It's my main program at work....all day,every day for the past 15 years!!!!!...I've been using it since version Illustrator 88.....what an old timer!!!

I have been using Illustrator for about 10 years, in conjunction with my beloved Freehand (which I have been using longer; heck, I've been using it since before Macromedia bought it) so I guess that dates ME LOL I've been using Quark since vs 3 and Pagemaker since vs 2 and Photoshop since ... I dunno... version 1? *grin* being in the commercial print and graphic design industry for 15 years, I have become well aquainted with the industry standard 5 (Photoshop, Freehand, Illustrator, Quark and Pagemaker) and have become relucantly familiar with all the rest (Corel, InDesign, Paint Shop, even Microsoft Word). Because trust me, the everyday person thinks you can just use any old program to "design" and I've had to figure out the weirdest ways to get people's wacked out files to print to film or direct-to-plate... while it's frustrating, it does teach you the ins and outs of every conceivable program created, that's for sure. What do you use Illustrator for at work? I just created a ton of maps for the State of Nevada with Illustrator (that's one reason why I did Gary, for a BREAK from the monotony).

My main Job is imprinted sportswear...doing designs and seperations for screen printed shirts and what-not...I too, have been handed the worlds worst beginners artwork to reproduce for print...like the kind of crap you see in microsoft paint!!!
Everyone thinks they are an Artist with their computers now!! I get sick when I have to re-draw bad art...or someone gives me a tiny business card and they want a poster made from it!!! I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
I'm also doing alot of art for "ASI" work on the side...mugs,clocks,calendars etc. I have to reproduce alot of company logos and designs.

I'm over here grinning, not at your pain, but at your understanding of a shared pain... I have redrawn soooo much stuff it's not even funny. That's why I'm especially good at redrawing logos with Illustrator. Logos always tend to be a problem. When I worked for the company that did Summit Racing, Mallory, Super Shops and the ASAP magazines, I was horrified at how many professional companies gave us very famous logos that were unusable for print; I would spend day after day just redrawing all these automotive logos. I still shudder when I have to walk into a Kragan or other auto parts store and see all those logos that I had to redo... *grin* and as far as the general public, I certainly feel your pain; one time a lady gave me a blurry 1"x1" 72ppi raster jpeg of a logo and wanted it printed on a 5 foot poster... AAAGHH! Vector redraw time. LOL they just don't get the printing world, be it commercial print or printing on shirts or anything like that. Or the graphite world, for that matter; ever had someone hand you that same blurry 1"x1" and say, "Can you draw this in an 11x17 size?" as you stare in vain at this postage stamp, trying to figure out what the picture even is... Oh well. We'll educate the world, one unaware photopaint user at a time, eh?
