When I made this[link]
Someone commented me asking me to make this version...so here it is.
Just because someone is a conservative, does not mean they are a Republican/member of the Republican party.
I do not know what to say here since this was a request... I more resemble the stamp linked above ...

I'm a non-Republican conservative too, but so far in I've always voted Republican, because with our two party system it's easier to try to change things within one of the major parties than to support a random third party that will never make it, due to the sate by state winner-take-all single representative district process which actually serves to stabilize politics.

While I am not a conservative [liberal, progressive, democratic socialist.. proponent of national conservatism], and hardly ever vote Republican in the modern era because for me, they have long since lost their ways since the Roosevelt, Eisenhower or Goldwater days... Though this stamp is a request.
I would also say it depends on the state/areas you live in, while more often than not it will be held by a Republican or Democrat, some places, such as Vermont where you have people like Bernie Sanders who has been beating both his Republican and Democratic challengers since the last 80s and have always been winning... that was just with respect of random third party that will never make it.
With respect to the second to last part, I do agree with you that it is easier to change the direction of one party rather than trying to change some/start some new party that will take decades to garner the necessary support to even make a real run for their money and this of course would only matter in more local elections and I do not see the R or D change in the White House for some time.
Thanks for the comment, good day to you, sir.

You're right, changing anything in politics requires a lot of time, energy, and usually money. I don't have any problem disagreeing with people politically, but it's still important to be civil about it, which I greatly respect you for, as I already noticed you weren't personally conservative and have read several of your responses to others.

I completely agree with you, so far, about 99% of all conservatives I have encountered on here have been civil and while we did not agree ideologically we could always either find common ground on one or two subjects, or merely agreed to disagree and moved on. Only two or three have been thenβ¦
YOU ARE A LIBERAL SO YOU HATE AMERICA!!!.. Sir, what have I done or advocated for that would show a disdain for America? YOU ARE A LIBERAL AND THEY ALL HATE AMERICA!!!
Though to be honest with you, I use these people as a form of entertainment to show exactly why too much of any ideology is a terrible thing for the mind

I feel this way completely. It's why people say "I'm a conservative Republican" because they are emphasizing what party they belong to and what their core beliefs are. At my core, I am a conservative. I don't believe in entitlement programs, I believe in exercising restraint and not activism when it comes to the Justice system, I think capitalism is the best form of freedom and is best for our nation, and I don't believe in big government bureaucracies. That said, I do NOT identify with the Republican party. They refuse to cut defense spending, they press religion on everyone, and they warp and control peoples minds with the shit-tastic organization that is Fox news. So yeah, thanks for this stamp!

Yes, I understand regarding the emphasizing on party, particularly the religiosity of the Republican party would have turned off Goldwater greatly.
As stated in my gallery, I am no conservative, I consider myself a liberal, progressive, and democratic socialist.
-I have no issue with entitlement programs, or some type of social safety net.
-I have no issue with capitalism, though am not a proponent of Laissez-faire capitalism, I have seen no evidence of a fully free market system working, though am against unnecessary regulation.
-With respect to the court, that for me depends on the issue at hand, I am not one to use one broad view for such a complex subject.
..Thanks for the fave of this stamp, good day to you, sir.

I was hoping you'd make one of these. Seriously, by definition, "conservative" means opposed to new ideas, nothing more. Just remember, it was a supposed "conservative" who sent us into a senseless war and passed the so-called "PATRIOT" act. Though, to be fair, the "liberal" who followed him did little to stop either...

AtheosEmanon In reply to c0lB0h [2011-11-17 02:35:23 +0000 UTC]
Well this is a request.. I consider myself left of center [liberal, progressive, democratic socialist] but if someone requests something and it is not smearing any group..I don't mind making it.
Though this stamp was not particularly about specific individuals such as Bush and Obama, both socially nice fellows yet who are either strong on certain ideas I may oppose, and not strong enough on ideas I would support... but such is life I suppose.
I believe I can claim sanity as long as I see no politician as perfect, when I start agreeing with 100% of what any politician says then I will check myself into the insane asylum.
Have a good one, good day.

While most conservatives tend to be Republicans, we just have to remember that they are not synonymous terms. Such as "Blue Dog Democrats" are Democrats that are conservatives.
Eisenhower and Goldwater Republicans tend to be socially quite liberal on many subjects.
Conservatoons, ah, he is an interesting guy...if you like people who will offer no real argument and just say "no hippies please" when they have no real rebuttal

Yeah very well said. The problem I see here is that Conservatives seem to get a bad rep because of the GOP. The GOP is not conservative. They are part of the Far-Right. I've known conservatives and they would call bullshit on the GOP.

"Far-right"? Do you care to justify that statement?
π: 0 β©: 1
Supyloco In reply to DukkaDukkaDukka [2011-12-09 01:18:05 +0000 UTC]
Well first of all one of the beliefs of the Far-Right is Fascism. Fascism is the belief that corporations should have control in government which they have done with permitting lobbyists in. Also another reason is that they find it okay to tap into the information of citizens without warrants and are into militarism which explains our bloated military budget.

I acknowledge that one can be a non-republican conservative. But I also acknowledge that it is rarely exemplified in those who profess it such a position.

Most of the conservatives I know are of the independent party, though most of the liberals I know are in the Democrat party. I am aware that most conservative will probably vote Republican yet the point of the stamp is just to not equate the two.. which we often see.
