Description
Well, I did Byakko, so I have to start making the other three at some point, right? Also, same deal as Byakko, it's name is technically "Xuan Wu"...
If you haven't seen Byakko already you can see it here:

---Genbu, Black Tortoise of the North-------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the four celestial creatures of the Chinese constellations, alongside the Vermillion Bird,
the Azure Dragon and the White Tiger, known collectively as the Four Symbols, or the Sì Xiàng,
all four governed by the powerful Yellow Dragon. The Black Tortoise, also known as The Black
Warrior (known in Chinese as Xuan Wu, Genbu in Japanese and Hyeonmu in Korean) represents
the direction of North, the element of Water and the season of winter, and is represented as
tortoise entwined together with a serpent. His Chinese name "Xuan Wu" is identical to that
of a Taoist god of the same name, and in many stories is related to him. The god is accompanied
by two generals, the "Tortoise General" and the "Snake General", said to the born when Xuan
Wu was trying to achieve divine ascension from his previous human form by removing his own
organs, creating the two demon generals from his stomach and his entrails. Both started
terrozing the nearby population, but repent their actions when confronted by Xuan Wu,
becoming his trustful allies.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As an afterthought, maybe I should've colored him using more black... Not very "Black Tortoise"
looking at it now, but, good enough for now I guess.
His design has some patterns with Byakko, a blue orb inscribed with the Chinese character for
"North" at the top, and an elemental halo inscribed with the 7 celestial mansions of his constellation.
The mountains and the palace on his shell are just a little flair, they don't mean anything in particular.
But they give an idea of stability and size, which is nice.
Well, that's it. Stay tuned in the near future for the next one in the celestial group and vote in
my journal for the next mythological figure to escape the sketch dump if you haven't already!
Hope you all liked it, and see you all next time!

Looks very good, I like the water effect on the halo.
Also I really like the colors you used, his shell looks like its frozen which is fitting for something that represents water and winter ; and his scales look like they are made of stone, like something that is so old it would start to petrify, I've read somewhere that the meaning of Gembu having two heads and no tail is that he have no end and is extremely old, so it fit pretty well.

Glad you liked the colors, it's very reassuring actually haha. As I mentioned, part of me still wants to go back and paint the shell all dark to make it fit the "Black Tortoise" better, and etc. A lot of afterthoughts going on here.

You're welcome! Always glad when someone mentions they've read the description haha.
They'll come, eventually, I guarantee. I myself am very looking forward to finish the other two and finally draw Kohryu.

I always read the descriptions, there's always something to learn and fun facts too. Plus, I'm not super informed about Chinese mythology, so this is a great occasion to learn more.
Looking forward to that!
