Oh my god, this design is so over the top. I had forgotten about it a little bit Glad you liked it anyway! This was a fun one nevertheless.  
Thinking back on it now, the beta version had a simpler head than this one which I think I prefer now... Maybe I should've kept it? If remake this someday I think I'll fix it, or who knows, maybe not.  
But since we're here, this brings something back to my memory. For the same project I did this Halphas I also designed Zagan , but never went and made an official finalized drawing out of it. So I guess you are the first person on the internet seeing it. XD
Scrapped for being a bit too silly and tacky for this poor world. Maybe it shall resurface here someday.
You faving this reminded me I had to fix some stuff in this drawing that was bothering me for a while now... With a bit of photoshop it's done now, let's pretend it was always like this...

The beta version was cool too The actual design could pass for a boss, and the beta version for a common enemy Your Zagan is pretty nice, with the wine bottle detail and the armor ! It's always difficult to tell if an artist's work is truly finished X) Now I'm working on a Koppa Tengu !

It's like a mini cute weapon of mass destruction. A Halphas-lite if you will!
I kinda still like the head, wings and feet, but the rest of it seems kinda uninteresting looking back on it. I didn't want the design to be overly complicated since I would have to draw it a million times, so I made it simpler, same as beta Halphas. Maybe someday I'll spice it up a tiny bit.
Who knows, maybe our job never is!  
Oh nice! You can follow it up in the future with all the different kinds of Tengu and finish it off with Sojobo ? I don't think I've ever seen a proper good design of him anywhere!  
Following my design of Shuten Doji way back then I actually tried to design in the same vein as him a bishonen Karasu Tengu, but I ended up scrapping it for looking too much like something out of a otome game.. Not fitting for it at all. XDDDD

I thaught I'll just do a Karasu Tengu and a Kurama Tengu after the Koppa Tengu The Kurama Tengu would look like a Yamabushi Tengu, with the red skin, the long nose... But maybe I'll give Sojobo a try someday

It reminds me that kaneko never properly did the famous long nose tengu like...Ever! And we got a shit load of tengus in the series because of his desire to "draw all the different types of tengus out there" in Nocturne... Seems kinda like he skipped the most important one!
But is there major differences between their descriptions? I don't really know actually. Do the different kinds of tengu are described differently from one another? (I know there's the long nosed ones, the smaller ones, the karasu and the dog-faced ones but there seems to be so many kinds of them, and yet they're all seem so similar to each other...)

I didn't know there was actually dog-faced tengu Do we know their place in the tengu hierarchy, their power level ? We know that more the tengu will be powerful, more his nose will be long, too My versions would follow the logic that more the tengu category will be mighty, more it will be human like ; so my Koppa Tengu is way closer to the bird than the man X)

Weird, I could SWEAR there was a subspecies of tengu with dog-like characteristics, but I'm not finding it... Guess I must've made it up. But there is indeed dog references everywhere, just not enough to justify giving it dog-like design.

Yeah, go figure, I'm imagining things.  
Not that I know of... But I imagine it's just like the game, with the Koppa at the bottom, the Karasu/Dai-Tengu in the middle tier, and the Kurama at the top. I'm also finding the name "Anba-Tengu" around, but I can't find what exactly they are.
I was following the same logic! That's why I did a more human-like Karasu tengu! 
At least I think they were a bit more powerful than the rest, right?

I meant the Karasu, sorry!  
I imagine they're more powerful than the Koopa, and on the same level of the Long Nosed.
