Love the picture! I read things on fimfiction and ran into your friend's fanfic, which I gotta say is really good. Then I saw your pic both on here and on the story, and was like....whoa! So, just want to say great job! I maybe a brony for now, but I'll always be an Autofan!

...Yep, that is DEFINITELY G1 Transformers-style there, right down to the remarkably implausible alt-modes.
Now, that's actually a GOOD thing, since you've replicated the style nicely. I just came into the Transformers fandom when Beast Wars was a thing, so I kind of missed out on the G1 train - and when I did find out about it, I'd been tainted by Beast Wars and couldn't quite get into the original cartoon.
Anyways, hilariously implausible alt-modes aside, this is a pretty cool imagining of Apple Bloom as an Autobot. She's got a bit of a Transformers: Animated vibe in robot mode, and the blend between machine and beast parts is pretty cool. Also, the energy hammer made from a wagon handle is both brilliant and nicely-drawn.
Plus, Apple-bot cutie mark! Although I wonder if this means that the villains are the Fruitbaticons...

Don't get me wrong, I see why G1 is loved by its fans, and I respect it for being the original Transformers cartoon - which more or less set the groundwork for every other film/cartoon/anime/continuity in the franchise - but hearing people calling it the best is pushing it.
In my opinion only, of course. Not trying to start any flame wars, just saying that Beast Wars, Animated, and especially Prime outshine the original cartoon in character development, voices, and production values (although the last one doesn't count for much, given that they succeed the original, and thus had better have superior production values).

I haven't seen Prime yet. Not much of a fan of the nose-less alien faces they got going on ever since Animated. I prefer the classic humanoid faces unless they had faceplates. as for retractable faceplates.... They should have stuck to the Optimus Primal style instead of fully uncovering.... I'm rambling, aren't I. I apologize. Not often I get to discuss transformers related things with others.

Nothing wrong with disliking the designs - they can be a bit odd, even to fans - but I still recommend giving Prime a shot if you can. It's got a lot of good points; strong plots (for Transformers fiction, anyway), cool action scenes, a great cast, and - shocker! - semi-decent human characters!
Also, a tolerable Frank Welker performance as Megatron!
