What can brown do for you?

A couple years ago I met a girl. She was much older than I was at the time, and had on one of those “Go Green” tee shirts on. I was 8 years old and was in the middle of my advertisement phase, so I walked up to her and asked her, “What can Brown do for you?”
She looked at me for a moment and smiled. “What can brown do for me? That depends on what I let Brown do.”
I looked at her, not understanding at all what she meant, and she got down on one knee, took my face in her hand, and said,
“Little Girl. I don’t know your name. And I don’t know your age or where you come from. But what I do know is that Brown is the color of today. We turn the air Brown with our need for cars that go and televisions so that we can look at people that aren’t real and smile and applaud them when they make the right choice. And while we do that, we sit on our buts, not caring that the water and air are turning Brown. Not caring that animals and trees are dying. Not caring that by disillusioning ourselves into thinking that our ‘friends’ on our televisions are not the only ones even pretending to care about this, we are eliminating any chance we have to change.”
I just looked at her for a second, and then a question formed on my tongue.
“What can I do to help?”
She looked at me with a weird look on her face and said, “Stop Brown, kid. Go Green. Make Green the color of tomorrow, and don’t stop trying. Ever.”
