When I moved to Alberta back in 1984 they had a lot of cartoons that I never saw before, Astro Boy was one of them and man, this one anime is what started my love affair with the Japanese art style.I could write pages about how awesome Osamu Tezuka is BUT this is a gift trade that is well overdue to this guy here:
I just want to mention that I had done the rough version of this for the robot jam but I just ran out of time to finish it unitl now.

Background inspired by the title card painting for "Space Madness" not sure if it was Bill Wray or Jim Smith (or someone else?) Anyone know for sure?

I think I like because Sped's skills was his only powers. It was not like he had boot rockets. Though that would be cool to have sometimes.

AT you did the original which is great! I remember seen it in black and white t.v. back in the late 60's and early 70's! Oh and indeed this is one of the cartoons which made me start drawing, Astroboy and Gigantor plus MMMS (Merry Marvel Marching Society)! Awesome AT as always!

Astro Boy was a huge influence on me, something I grew up with, that's why I guess I took so long with this one. I wanted it to be just right, you know?

Heheh, yeah I'm terrible at flames... especially in cartoon version... :\ oh well. I'm more of a sketcher/shader. I admire that you can make pictures like you do though!

Custom brushes? On a computer program you mean?? Sorry, I get confused with these things. Who knew you could use multiple paintbrushes on a computer!

On the computer you can actually make a brush to your own specification, so, if you want something that makes really cool clouds you can make one.
Knowing how to work with traditional media though is very, very important. I'd stick with that anyway, especially if you're strapped for cash

Oh, cool! I'd love to do that. Fiddling around with settings and things until I get them just right is something that I like to do, surprisingly. Although... using the brush? I'd probably injure myself with frustration in the proccess.
Yeah, it's unfortunate that I can't seem to save up my money properly... oh vell. Maybe when I turn into an adult (which is a long way off, and that's a consolation in a way) and have financial independance, I will be able to explore more options. But I'm taking art this year at school, so hopefully my traditional artistic 'skills' will improve. They haven't done much of that since around grade five.
