In fact, the background contains it AND I imported a fax error into the final version that so far no one has mentioned

Holy hell your right, damn sorry for not picking that up earlier lad, usually always trying to find the Easter Eggs an artist will throw into a picture.

Since back in the day. I VauGLY rememberd the show since I was 4 at the time, it wasn't till the late 90s with Internet at school and then most of this decade did I get to put all the info together on the series. I got a the VHS tapes in 06 and all the memories where back clear as day.

Man I wish this series would be brought back. Anyway keep up the great work.

I think I was 7 or so when I first saw it, the show was my favourite, personally I thought it was better than Transformers.

I have a couple of VHS copies but I'd kill for DVD...

What I wonder though is what the video quality is like. Because I have some on VHS, but I'd like something better than that.

WHAT! XD Transformers FOREVER! XD

While Orbots will never be better then transformers for me, its lightyears better then Gobots and on Par for my affection like Voltron. Shame that Gobots Lawsuit killed Orbots from getting a 2nd sesion and a toy. :/

I have a bootleg DVD. Quality is good overall except for one episode.

WHAT THE!

Ok! I've seen a LOT of rare Orbots stuff over the years but never this. Holy poo!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JasonCanty In reply to AtomicTiki [2009-10-07 04:33:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know I JUST came across this. I always look for Orbots stuff online, and I know a Prototype was made for the 1984 Toy show, but damn Tonka/Kenner killed Orbots saying it interfeared with their copyright of Gobots (saying Orbots looked to much like Puzzler... which had not even been released in America). THe Judge bought it, and prevented the toy from being made. No toy. No sesion 2.

But Apparently Bandai went ahead and made a limited run of Orbots toys in Japan any way. AGHH!!!!!

I mean I've seen tiny knock off toys of the orbots be fore (like 5 Inch hight), but never full sized origonal. Man I'm soo depressed. XD

Well I hope you do more Orbots art.

One of these days I'll get off my butt and do the whole gang...

JasonCanty In reply to AtomicTiki [2009-10-17 18:04:10 +0000 UTC]

Please do!

Heh if I ever won like the massive 100+ million lotto I'd so buy the rights to Mighty Orbots, and have Bandai Retool their 2008 version of God Mars (you've seen the new version right?) to sell as Mighty Orbots. ANd Get that same 3D Animation team that did Eon Kid to Re-do the first 13 eps, and then get them start work on a new series.

Heh what a dream.

AtomicTiki In reply to JasonCanty [2009-10-17 18:20:58 +0000 UTC]

That'd be pretty badass!

I think if I had the same option I'd wanna traditionally animate it, maybe in the Bruce Timm style.

JasonCanty In reply to AtomicTiki [2009-10-17 19:55:04 +0000 UTC]

I't be cool. Especaly if it was like the origonal 1990's style Batman The animated series animation company (the same company that animated the Big O).

Though I picked 3D since its actuly becoming relitively cheeper then 2D. Sad to say.

I dunno, 3D is missing something if you ask me, too stiff looking.

I don't dissagree. I'm just looking from a cost persepective.

Idealy I'd like TMS to do it agian.

Groovy! For a long time I thought I was the show's only fan. Glad to see that's not so! I'd tell folks, "Yeah it was like Voltron but the robots had different personalities and they fought all these cool bad guys." and they'd look at me and go "Neat concept you should do a comic book about it."

*sigh*

Anyway, great work here and thanks for the walk down nostalgia lane.

You're very welcome. The source for this picture was actually the TMS character sketches so all I did was add some ink and colour and therefore can't take the credit (some unnamed artist at TMS I would say).

Cheers,
AT

I understand, I read all the comments on the piece before commenting myself. Just something I do to avoid being too redundant with what's been posted already. You still inked her up and slapped color on her and loaded up to DA for me to find so that's aces in my book.

Wow! You picked another of my favorite 1980's female characters! Well done in capturing her style and great coloring. I like how her mechanical shape is simple, box-like (especially her chest ) yet it portrays a very sexy form in a youthful robotic way. Well done.

One of the things that attracted me to Orbots was just how great all the characters flowed and looked. This is a great example here culled right from the original design material.

Thanks for lookin' and don't forget that fave button

knighted-feline In reply to AtomicTiki [2009-06-25 04:08:50 +0000 UTC]

I believe they are. But you'd have to have a region free DVD player. I heard that they're in German. You'd just have to check online.
I've also heard that they're not released due to the creator having issues with the company that made it. It may also be in such small demand, that they don't think it'd sell.

Personally, I wish they'd get around to releasing Galtar, Thundarr and a few others to DVD. I also miss Goldie Gold and Action Jack.

AtomicTiki In reply to knighted-feline [2009-06-25 04:17:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, just did a sweep 'round the usual places, there are rumours of a possible release (the theory goes that if Galaxy High can get a release then Orbots can't be far behind), however the reason the show was killed is much more concrete. As many Orbots fans know, Tonka sued the creators of The Mighty Orbots. Tonka accused them of basing Orbots off of the GoBots (which is complete crap if you ask me). Tonka won and that was the end of that... sadly.

I have a couple episodes on VHS but for now that's as good as it gets

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

knighted-feline In reply to AtomicTiki [2009-06-25 04:30:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, the biggest loss out of that situation was that GoBots lost their fight with Transformers. The courts said that GoBots was too directly related to Transformers, so all their copyright went from Tonka and Hanna-Barbera to Mattle. That's why the Orbots creator is having issues. He's trying to get appeals through that might give him back the property. If he gets it back, I've also heard that he wants to take it CGI. If so, that would be cool to see. At least that's what I heard a little over a year ago. Nothing I know is up to date.

I looked up some stuff on Orbots a little over a year ago. It was on linked off of some site dealing why Orbots weren't on DVD. Beyond that I can't remember.

The news about Transformers and Gobots is from a few years ago. That's why Transformers released their "GoBots" line for kids. The news for the lawsuit I think you can find on CNN.com. Among the figures they released was a "Leader One" airplane.
