Description That tricky feline Mirage has taken Jasmine's place somehow.

Notes:
Ok, for once I used a reference and for once I wasn't tempted to add airbrush shading.

My god, i love her! Meowwww baby. She's up there with Catra from She-Ra as kinkiest villain chick in animation.

Well done!

Mirage always was a neat character. My favorite Aladdin villain. The blue-green costume goes with her really well. Good job.

fave!

When I completed the line art I knew right away this would be my best Mirage ever, and in Jasmine's outfit!? I'm tellin' you I knew it was right on.

I agree, right on!

To be honest, I think the blue looks better on her than red!

And she's very pretty in this one.

This piece is an inspiration. I been meaning to try my hand at a Mirage picture, too. I think I will try to put one together sometime.

Again well done!

You must have been used reference images from the episode with those big arms gremlin like things.
Mirage's design is pretty unstable but her version in that episode was the most different. And while it was not my favourite one (I like her with big cheeks) I have to say you emulated it purrfectly.
See this cute video of her: [link]

I think that is the episode I used. I find most Disney characters hard to draw and I'm obsessed with getting things "on model" sometimes... so I'm really happy with this one.

You're right not to do airbrush shading on this. Especially to maintain the style of the cartoon. Although an experiment in cell-style shading might have been in order.

Still, great job in being both on model and in character!

Thank you very much for your comments.

When I had finished the initial colouring I knew I was done

This is the best Mirage I've ever drawn too, which makes me happy

This would been a great aladdin episode intro. Aladdin running to meet Shasmin but then Mirage turn around and he wonder "What's going on."

Great drawing!

You're welcome We really should have more seasons of the old shows...

AtomicTiki In reply to rodrev [2008-11-22 18:10:24 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I think so, or at least a "special" once in a while.

I doubt Disney has the raw animation power to produce something like Aladdin for TV ever again though...

rodrev In reply to AtomicTiki [2008-11-22 19:01:54 +0000 UTC]

They did actually. You know Hercules the TV series? There were an spin off there. And then you have kingdom of hearts, the video game.

But yes... the only good animated shows today is Kim Possible...

AtomicTiki In reply to rodrev [2008-11-22 19:06:23 +0000 UTC]

Oh you know, I don't think I ever watched Hercules the series. I loved the movie though, Gerald Scarfe did some great work. In the battle with the hydra I completely expected the "judge" from The Wall to come out of nowhere and start pronouncing musical sentence upon the beast.

rodrev In reply to AtomicTiki [2008-11-23 11:45:59 +0000 UTC]

I really haven't watch one whole episode of the show. I bugged me the fact that Hades know about Hercules in the series which takes place before the movie, when he don't have a clue before the movie that Herc is still alive.

Not seen the wall.

AtomicTiki In reply to rodrev [2008-11-23 21:05:34 +0000 UTC]

Oh really? Retconning stuff really bugs me (particularly Star Wars) but yeah, that's very silly. At least Aladdin made sense as a series.

You gotta see The Wall, it's a powerful film with a lot of emotions and some great animation.

rodrev In reply to AtomicTiki [2008-11-24 01:09:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but Aladdin had a lot to take from, him self were from 1001 night adventures. Of course, characters like Mirage was quit uniq I think, though she seems familiar with Bast.
But you are right, Aladdin have had 3 movies and 3 seasons as a TV series, and did it pretty well! When I saw some episodes again, I remember how fun they were.

But I believe the movie that have the record in Disney straight to video collection must be Beauty and the Beast. Never seen the extra movies, never planes to either.

Star Wars was great and the new triology is ok. I think the third was the best of the bounch. The first had little revelance with the last movie, the second was very much back story but not extremely exiting, and the third pieced it all together. I haven't watch all the spin off series or the the new movie "clone wars."

I think there's a lot of potential in most Disney stuff, but it depends solely on the writers and their imagination.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rodrev In reply to AtomicTiki [2008-11-24 12:18:41 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely. Though, therefor I would love more Aladdin is because of many things I would love to see to the end. Mirage and Phasir(The old blind/cyclops guy) had a history, and Phasir says that love will bring Mirage back to him ("Eye of the beholder").

Mirage is one of the most evil character, though I like her. She, Jafar and Mozenrath is some of the most interresting villains from the series. There are of course many others, but most of them a comical.

AtomicTiki In reply to rodrev [2008-11-24 17:09:28 +0000 UTC]

That's for sure, the villains make the hero and Aladdin had the best I think of the whole "Disney Afternoon" (maybe Gargoyles too).

rodrev In reply to AtomicTiki [2008-11-25 02:28:59 +0000 UTC]

I have just got around to see the beginning of Gargoyles. I loved the episodes and would love to see more. I was questioning myself while seeing it "Is Disney really making this stuff?" because of it's much darker theme then Disney have made before. And it was kind of fun that the whole show was nearly a Star Trek reunion when it came to voice actors, hehe.

I don't remember the galls name, but she was a great and complex character to.

AtomicTiki In reply to rodrev [2008-11-25 14:52:58 +0000 UTC]

I was quite blown away by the series when it first aired. They let it run too long and become to mired in itself in later episodes. The first season was an amazing ride though.

I do like how they developed Demona's character over time as well as how stubborn Xanatos stayed throughout the series.

rodrev In reply to AtomicTiki [2008-11-25 16:47:56 +0000 UTC]

Agreed, though the later seasons had some good episodes to. But usually it's the the first season were the best ideas are.

I most come around and see the whole series. It's on DVD, but not cheap.

AtomicTiki In reply to Skoshi8 [2008-11-19 04:12:45 +0000 UTC]

Mine too.

She was that excellent combination of sexy, smart and awesome. She never had small, subtle plans, it was always "I'm putting your whole city to sleep", "turn your girlfriend into a monster" or "steal the children" with Mirage.

I do.
And of course it probably entails a devious plot on the mart of Mirage, after all whatever she has planned is a mere illusion.

AtomicTiki In reply to JonnySchweer [2008-10-09 00:12:54 +0000 UTC]

For sure! I could see Jasmine trapped appearing as Mirage trying to make Aladdin and company believe she's somehow swapped places.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JonnySchweer In reply to AtomicTiki [2008-10-09 03:11:46 +0000 UTC]

That is very similar to an episode that actually happened, but instead of Mirage, it was a "street rat" girl who used a spell to make Aladdin think she was a princess and him lover her.

Or it could be Mirage in her bed clothes with a fake Aladdin. Nothing wrong with playing out a little fantasy.
