Pre-Michael Jackson MTV was great: Adam Ant, Madness, Turning japanese, the Pretenders, Squeeze, Nena, Bow-wow-wow, & of course Der Kommisar

Man! Exactly! We had something similar up here called MuchMusic and they did indeed play Much Music until about 1988 or '89.
HUUUUUUUGE fan of The Vapors and Madness, I have all their records rare though some of them may be.
I miss old school pop music, with actual bands instead of divas, solo acts and pretty boy crews.

I see, forgot you were in Canada so no MTV. Did you ever see the 80's BBC show "The Young Ones"? Madness appeared live on the show twice doing Our House & House of Fun. Rick asks lead singer Sugsie for a song request, he replies; "You hum it & I'll Smash you face!"

With the exception of early Marilyn Manson (pre sweet Dreams) the Smashing Pumpkins & Rammstein - I haven't enjoyed music in the last 15 years.

It's funny, MTV was partly founded by the guys behind CKLW (aka The Big 8 out of Windsor, Ontario) the format there was basically what all top 40 rock stations would become and for decades was THE sound of Detroit. Well anyway, some of their alumni and fans at CityTV got in the music video gig just a few years after MTV. Conceptually it was the same, though I think (after having seen both) that MuchMusic was slightly better produced they were unfortunately saddled with CanCon.
But yeah! The Young Ones became a cult hit up here after it showed on late night TV at 1 or 2 AM, I can't recall the channel or what year but it blew my mind and I've been an Ade Edmonson/Rik Mayall fan ever since. In fact if I turn my had 90 degrees to the left I can see my DVD set of The Young Ones and Bottom hahaha
There's a lot of great music and musicians around they're just buried under this big phony industry, like if Lady Gaga sounded like this: [link]

Definitely a gal from a Tetsuka series. The sloped, sharp eyes denote a villainess (or at least someone not to be trusted). I have to admit that my first thought was an evil Janya Wonder.
If I had to guess, she probably comes from an Astro Boy expisode.

She could be from an anime series, or from a US cartoon from the 80s, but people should remember that a very good majority of American cartoons in the 80s were animated in Japan, so the lines have blurred!
