Because I love my Faikel! <3
A very nice portrait of my character Faikel, and my representative character I started drawing this at Sunday 21, but I just finished it yesterday cos Sunday the electricity went out in the sector where I live all afternoon, due a light transformer that exploded.
Some of you already know Faik cos I’ve drawn him a couple of times, but for the newies here ( because I’ve seen a few new watchers ) he is…it’s my very first character….more than that, and I love him so much…you have no idea how much! So, this is a very special piece of mine, well, all my Faikel pics are! But this is something I had in mind since…almost always! Since a pretty good time ago I wanted to draw this…but specially since 2008, when Faikel the character made his intro on “Why Faikel likes cooking” (If you like to know about him, you can go see the comic here atrixfromice.deviantart.com/ar… ) because thanks to Foster’s Home I finally had the courage to see him….I mean, to introduce Faikel to the society! well, the dA community …I still remember those years when I was younger, and I really longed to make people meet him because he’s awesome and so sweet! Specially my hero and dear friend!!...but I always thought that was something so far away...until Foster's came out! That’s when I had the chance!
You know, when I knew that show and started to watch it, I don’t know why but it really touched my heart so hard, like a steel rod that is embedded through a piece of butter!...And it wasn’t just because I fell in love with Wilt, but also because the merely concept of Imaginary Friends coming to life was SO awesome that made my mind blow to the stratosphere from amazement and excitement!! ..And I don’t know why! ….well, actually I know why exactly, but if I tell you…you will never believe me!!! ..or even, you may be afraid...And I don’t want any of you guys running away! It really took me a long time to get my watchers and friends here! And I really appreciate you all Anyway, the true is, I paid much more attention to Faikel after foster’s came out, and now I feel so full of joy cos some people who I appreciate here can meet him! my friends and my hero! And if seems a few of them like him, indeed two of them already drew him!
The funny thing is, this wasn’t what I had planned at first time, no, I was planning to introduce Faikel to the society maybe, but only when I was already a strong and recognized artist, not now! I always dreamed of being a filmmaker or a cartoonish/drawer and make shows and movies (or helping making them in any case ) and I always thought that was the right time for letting people to know him, but then it came Fosters, and I SAW MY CHANCE!! And I was SO amazed!!...the opportunity hit me like a beam, and was like “Oh boy!! Oh dear!! Now I really have a chance to do something to make people know him!!!” I was dying from excitement because that was the chance!!! that was the chance!!!!! … I just could resist take it! And now I’m so glad really, cos he means so much to me! And I can’t believe my mind that was able to make people meet him! …Although I think this will be the last time I post a drawing of him, cos I’ve got quite a dilemma you know; I think making people to know him at this time was something imprudent….this was not the time, and now I’m taking a really great risk, much more with him that with other character I’ve ever made!...Now I’m not sure if leave everything like it is, or delete my pics of him and pretend that never happened….his intro….but I just can dare to do that!! I DON’T WANT to do that!! It would be a very cruel thing! (and not just for me!) cos I’m so thrilled...I really wanted everybody to know him….And in the other hand, that chance was SO incredible that I really believed was a God’s sign! So…maybe my dear old chap wanted me to do that…after all, I don’t believe in coincidences, and it wasn’t an accident the fact thanks to Foster’s I’ve learned a lot, or the fact I found the hero who saved me thanks to a drawing of him!....it’s just I feel so helpless when I think I probably never will be able to do any movie or show…and although I know the risk is enormous; the risk of talking about what I feel, about my ideas, as well as posting this pics here, I don’t want to do that, cos I don’t want a deserved tribute pic like this being hiding! Cos art it’s to be seen and admiring! That’s the way it should be!...
But well, I seriously have to think about it, about what is the best choice...anyway, I hope you enjoy this! Faikel huggles! ^^ I always wanted to draw Faikel hugs, cos in real life he can’t hug anyone…but here HE DOES CAN!!! And I drew this cos I really wanted to give him a chance to snuggle! Even if it’s just figurative, it’s really good to give him a chance, and makes me feel so happy!
It’s funny though one of the reasons why I had not drawn a pic like this before, was because it’s very difficult to draw Faik most of the times, specially his head an hair…It’s really an irony!! cos he’s my character, and I can’t draw him well! So even if I’m pretty pleased with this drawing, I have to say…it got some little flaws that even though I tried SO hard to fix,I couldn’t fix them! One is them is the hair sparkles; I just couldn’t find a brush that can make the right amount of glitter, so glitters somewhat spoiled his beautiful hair texture that I made with much dedication! but I had to add glitter on the pic, since Faik’s hair is shiny. The other is flaw is the head, it’s too big! ….And Faik’s hand! I never could fix it!!! I realized the arm and hand were a bit crooked when I was in middle of the painting process , but I couldn’t fix it so much cos to do that I would have had to “dismantle” the whole drawing since the layer where I painted the arm was attached with other parts of the drawing, because I mistook the layers . So please, ignore the ugly hand and arm!!

---------------Oh goodness no! Don't say that! Don’t spoil the beautiful moment please!

But...but...I have to! it's true there were some little flaws that...

Hhhmmmmm ….maybe ….but you can’t blame me for wanting to make a real good work on your character!

------------Hehehe! True …but there are no flaws here my child! It's a really beautiful and sweet piece!...and moreover! You already have done a fully awesome job drawing this from nowhere! Without any pencil/traditional sketch as reference, so any “flaw” can come next is merely an insignificance! You’re already winning when practicing this, cos your technique to draw like this is improving dramatically!...and if you don’t believe me, believe our friend Jame, she told you that you’ve got a skill in this!

Hahhahaha! Well *ehem*….Ok, no flaws here! also yes guys, it’s true it’s already a merit the fact I’ve drawn this with no traditional sketch as a guide, specially since I’m not good with hugs sometimes!
And drawing Faikel was a merit itself! I usually can’t draw him, but I felt SO inspired to do this drawing when I found this gorgeous song from Peter Cetera www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkQHSz… Oh God!...I don’t know why father-daughter love songs I always touch my soul SO strong ....maybe it's because I never had a father who say such things like in those songs…I admire and love my father very much, and I always longed to hear him telling me that...but he just haven't wanted to get closer to me and get to know me really, because he's not agree about my love for art or sci-fi shows/characters

I wish he hadn’t prejudices about sci-fi and art, I bet he would like me then…well, the case is this song was really beautiful, so spontaneous and full of feeling! The melody was very cheerful and lively, very lovely, and what I loved most is that the lyrics, cos although isn’t very eloquent or sophisticated, it's amazing! Lyrics were very heart-melting, because it almost feels like if who is singing wasn’t an artist or someone who knows about composing music, but a father who is just singing a song to his daughter while she’s sleeping cos he feel and immense joy and excitement of having a daughter! I think many parents could identify with this song ....I think that’s why this made me remind Faik ....hehe maybe many of you couldn’t get what I mean, but my hero will….I wanted to share the song with you cos when I listened to it I imagined this scene! And I wanted to share with you all tha feeling!

Well, in this drawing I decided to give the characters a design between a cartoon and a realistic body, you can notice the painting, hair texture and faces here are more realism than cartoon, while the eyes mouth and nose are more a “Disney-esque cartoon style”
I really liked this drawing style, cos it mix the best qualities of the two sides; the cartoon one and the realism one! (It’s the same design I used to make the recent portrait of my hero) I love this one being my own style, cos it allows me to convey in my art the spirits and personalities of people/characters ^^ without having to spend eons trying to make a realistic face! and plus! With this style real people look more beautiful than when I try to draw them with a realistic face! My friend told me that when I drew her portrait, she felt that was her looking in spirit, and that’s so really wonderful! I’m very pleased with the expressions here, the eyes in particular! and about the desing of faikel’s more realistic head I tried to make this time…it’s just I feel here Faikel’s head is…a little bigger than I expected.

When I started painting this, in the skech it seemed it was smaller, and while painting it I noticed faikel’s head became bigger than Atrix’s face. Maybe due the hair it seems it’s not made to scale, cos Faikel’s head it’s of the same size that a young person, or a bit smaller (saying that just in case you would like draw him) this design I tried to do is…well, it didn’t worked.
I don’t like it so much I much prefer the a bit more cartoonish design I gave to his head for the Foster’s home comic and the other drawings of him I’ve made and the best pic of him so far if you like to see a good photo of him, is this truly awesome photo made by my dear friend jameson9101322.deviantart.com/… I have to thank her, cos seeing the way she drew him I learned how to make Faikel’s hair doesn’t cover his eyes! And now I really liked his hair in this drawing!

I liked the background too, it was quite easy to do it, I took some of the colors from different reference photos. I wanted something simple cos the main focus are the characters, and although they’re against the light, I thought they didn't needed to look dark, because the sun was almost on a side, not behind them.
