Is sending in hordes of rookies with laser rifles a viable tactic?

Yes but I generally recommend a hoard of rooks with pulse rifles, as they are capable of a charge shot (heavy shot)
Granted a bunch of vets with a variety of weapons is just as if not more effective. rookies have often saved the day as I have rooks almost always carrying pulse weaponry for its versatility. Its not as powerful as a rocket/explosive type weapon, cant throw as many shots as a Gatling or SAW type weapon, and not as long range as a sniper, but its a good balanced weapon.

UFO: Incursion Response Force is a tabletop game I made up and I use minis wherever I find them appropriate (IWM, Reaper, GW, EM4, ZS, etc etc) The basic premis borrows from the old x-com games with two sides and a civilian faction that is always in the way. I run games at the local denver cons

Its a battle report on the UFO:IRF game.
I have my rules in two forms, one is a very dense excel file that makes sense to me, but the second is being converted to a more standard booklet style that most other people can absorb well enough. Im not sure if Ill ever release or publish it, or just use it for games at cons.
This game however has motivated a lot of what ive done lately. Namely, 4x8' gaming mats, my failed, but will continue production slowly sci-fi traffic hazard kickstarter, and Im presently designing some 28mm combat suits/exo skeletons
