Description
A short made for Albino Blacksheep's Tournament of Flash Artists (TOFA 2012).For every round, each contestant has only three weeks to make a cartoon from scratch that works around an assigned theme or challenge.
Round 3 Theme - Me, Myself and I

"Round 3 is where I really started feeling the burn; the competition only got tougher, the challenges began to stack, and to top it all off, the gig I was doing at the same time was becoming more strenuous to manage.
I'll admit, Round 3 is where I got a little cocky; I took a huge risk on a dialogue-heavy cartoon and I forgot the point was to have plenty of animation. Still, I had a lot of fun writing it out and working with the voice actors. I think it's mostly thanks to them that I managed to score another win."

I'm gonna say what everyone here should be thinking. Bow ties are cool.
I remember watching you animate this. Kinda gives you a new appreciation for the art when you watch it being done frame by frame and then get to see the finished result.

Yeah, I dropped in once or twice. In this case when you were animating the egg to say "I'm doomed." Yeah, it's a bit of a tedious process, heck, it used to take Warner Brothers Cartoons 9 months to create a seven minute short film animating frame by frame like that. But watching it happen, as I said, does give you a better appreciation for it.

Ahh. Wow, 9 months, really? I feel a little better about doing this in 3 weeks. XD Good to hear you can appreciate it, a lot of people treat animation as incidental sometimes.

It took 125 people 9 months to animate one short film. That's according to an interview with Mel Blanc back in 1981 . This using a full animation technique such as you were using for this short. Opposed to a limited animation technique like Hanna-Barbera used to use.
And yes, as someone trying to get into video game programming I do have a respect for the arts like animation. It's an industry many don't really think about the work that actually goes into making it. All they really care about is the end result.

It really was just for a tournament, but I wanted something that could stand alone too. Perhaps it's a sign of things to come, for when I don't have a mere 3 weeks to conceptualize, write, voice cast, layout, animate, color and publish!

Three weeks, actually. but I know what you mean. It does give me more time to think up a serviceable plot without the limit, but i should still churn them out as fast as I can

Its not speed you should be concerned about (until someone puts a deadline on you) it's Quality (and clarity, but that comes with quality) not quantity or quickily
