Yeah, many gays choose that way of easing people into it. You may not, but it's probably his biggest fear, and that fear has a tendency to blind us. I was worried as hell about my dad, but he was...well, he's probably the most supportive of them all (after my mother, of course ^_^)

No, but still...it's not easy. I was told several times by my parents (before I even had thoughts of coming out) that if I turned out to be gay, nothing would change. That kind of message was very spontaneous, but they truly meant it, and yet I was still shaking with fear when I told my mother and father...
They truly are. Which is why I hate getting into a fight with mine about something stupid and trivial...luckily we both have explosive tempers and the fights last less than ten minutes. And then we're back to loving mother and son-mode ^_^
