Description Haha...okay. I finally got around to it. Keep in mind that sanding this thing is very messy.

Here is the tutorial on tumblr (it's a little easier to read there): nedzuku.tumblr.com/post/134281…

And here is Squigglydigg's tutorial: squigglydigg.tumblr.com/post/1…

Can I ask where your sourced your pumpkin pails from? Where I'm from, Halloween isn't so big, and this sort of thing is hard to get a hold of.

how did you get the jaw to have more curve to it? did you bend the bottom pail with tape? add alot of paper mache? used more wood filler in that area?

Angel-Wolf-Hagane In reply to icedragonsheart [2017-07-21 23:26:45 +0000 UTC]

what superbecky said, they added more mache to make it look more round on his cheeks, it says it in the writing if you blow it up

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

SuperBecky In reply to icedragonsheart [2017-06-02 17:32:18 +0000 UTC]

probably a lot of paper mache on that area, but im just guessing

some people use eva foam for heads but that takes a lot more time cause you need the foam, glue, heat gun and many more oter things

Hey I was wondering if you or someone in the comments section could go into a little more detail about adding more dimension and detail to the mask. Like what don't do with the card around the eyes and how do I use he extra paper clay to add depth to the mouth area. Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm still new to this. Thanks much appreciated.

How MUCH Gesso/acrylic paint/ wood filler should I buy? Is 16 oz of each sufficient, or should I buy a 32 oz container of each instead?

In Canada they're easy to find once halloween rolls around. Dollar stroes carry smaller ones but Walmart and Micheals tend to carry the bigger ones

This was so helpful when I made my own mask/head a few months ago! I skipped the wood filler and tried mache pulp instead, but I got impatient so its not as perfectly smooth as yours, but it's still the most creative thing ive attempted for a cosplay!

Are you planning on selling these? If so, then how much might you sell them for? I just don't have enough time to make one. I would DIE for one.
I hope you respond because this mask is better than any other. I love it!

Patchouli-Rolling [2016-04-20 21:52:15 +0000 UTC]

The wood filler dried pretty lumpy, is there anything special you did to get it really smooth? Or does the sanding process just take a long time?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

5t45yg4q In reply to Patchouli-Rolling [2016-09-26 04:07:39 +0000 UTC]

i had the same question i ended up having to start over ditch the wood glue and after the paper mache did a layer of mod podge paint and then mod mod podge it came out fine without the wood filler( i love this tutorial cause i have tried four other methods and this is the only one that has worked do not give up on this tutorial even if wood glue let you down)

Scorponis [2016-04-20 16:58:21 +0000 UTC]

How many layers of plastic did you have on the mouth/cheek area? I definitely didn't have enough to leave a layer to mache over like you did.

when did you add the card stock to the mask? in between the paper mache and the clay? or just before the paper mache?

i ended up not using it on my second attempt it came out fine but i would recommend you put more on top of it and use an orbital sander

How big are the pails supposed to be? It's a pain in the ass to find them right now with it not being Halloween... I'm guessing either 18 cm width or 24. What's best?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AttackGoose In reply to CupCakeHug [2016-03-13 15:34:57 +0000 UTC]

24 would be your best bet. I got 10 inch pails off of amazon, so that's the closest measurement to what I purchased.

Did you fold the plastic on the bottom half of the mask? It looks like you made extra cuts.
