Description So I think "Finished by Friday" is kinda turning in to, "Milestones by Friday".
I do ok line work and inks but I always feel like a ruin everything I do with color. So I'm rolling things back a bit to try and proceed more methodically and slowly in the hopes that I can learn and try and strengthen this area. To that effect I did a ton of lighting and color passes on the Ghost Leader sketch and these were the ones that I liked best. Personally I'm kinda leaning toward,"Light B" & "Spaceshuttle A"

Disclaimer: As A.V. has mentioned on his comments on my pieces, we are friends and we regularly ask for each other's crits

Ok, I'll include all of my comments here since I'm behind (even knowing that the line work for this piece is "done" and you've moved on to other areas light lighting and color). I agree that Light B is the way to go. It has a feeling of discovery (kinda like this wreck and the corpse were found by someone panning a flood light around a dark space)...i like the mood. It also draws the eye to what (to me) is the most interesting part of the narrative...what happened to this pilot? That leads me to the first of my two comments on this piece: I feel like I'm not getting enough of the story in the piece. The damage to the upper left corner of the HUD seems to hint at a kinetic ammo impact and you can kinda trace the line to the pilot's helmet, but that's the only sign of damage other than the broken canopy. Maybe that was on purpose? In any case, I feel like I want to see a trail of bullet holes (even if its just one more) and also, if it WAS a kinetic ammunition impact from another ship, the likely caliber of the weapon would be such that it would have done some pretty good damage to the person underneath...and likely exited the back of the helmet and impacted the vehicle's inner cockpit somewhere. In any case, its got me wondering what happened there, so that's great! The other comment I have is that the upper arm and torso seems way too short for the head size.

I like Spaceshuttle A, but I like Cosmonaut A even better. Here's why: I feel like the muted\cool colors plays well to the 'tomb' feel of the piece. I also like that the only real punch of color is the face plate which draws again to the most interesting part of the image...the damage to the helmet and what might have happened to this pilot.

All in all, good stuff! And SO much more than I've gotten done in the last week. I need to get my ass in gear! LOL.

Thanks for the crits brother... All good stuff and I couldn't agree more with the weird anatomy of the pilot. Def my weakness for drawing the human form coming through in spades here I agree with you on the lighting and also I think another good point about picking a color combo that has some dual-tonality to it is that in Spaceshuttle A & B the pilot can get "lost" in the cockpit as it's all "astro-white".

With regards to the narrative and the damage... I have to be honest I never got that far in my thought process, LOL. I think it's great that the piece got you thinking about that and now I can't unsee the trace-line from the corner of the HUD to the helmet visor. Ha. Was totally unintentional and this really was just a glorified doodle to begin with

None the less, things to think about in future pieces!
