Description full title: "A Guide to Taking Good Quality, High Resolution Stock photographs - Part I - All About Cameras"
In this tutorial I'll explain tons of stuff. Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, focus, mega pixels, self-timers, etc.
(This is made for figure stock artists, but all sorts of stockers and beginning photographers can learn from this)

Full-view (zoom in) to see the actual tutorial. WARNING: Very large image! There's a somewhat printable version here: [link]

edit: Oh gods! I just signed on quick before I had to go to work and wasn't able to say thanks (no time), but now I'm back.. and wow! Another DD! Thanks so so much to `thespook for suggesting and ^bleedsopretty for featuring it..

And thanks to you for looking.

I have used camera symbols belonging to well... I've seen a few companies use them (Canon, Nikon, Pentax). But I've used them for educational purposes only. No copyright infringement is intended. Please oh please don't report me, I certainly don't make any money off of this.

Very nice. What I found to be especially useful were the clear and practicle example images you used to illustrate how a different aperature or ISO effects the detail of the image. Not too many books, I've found, show that as well as you have.

This tutorial is great, very useful. To be honest I had no idea about camera megapixels before reading this and I've just realised that I have a 7.1 Megapixel camera. I found it surprising that it is suposed to be a high quality camera because my camera takes images that are so grainy at full size.
Would the make of the camera(olympus) change the quality, or is my camera just faulty?
Thanks for your time

You asked to be notified of typos? Just a couple, not sure if you've already been told...they're both in the 'remotes' section. Firstly, you say to look at the 'self timer' section on the left...it's on the right. Secondly, "a ten-second timer can be quite a restricting"...

Anyway, sorry to have to point that out, I love your tutorial, it's taught me so much about how to use my camera in general, as I don't do stock but most fo the stuff is still really useful

You have a lot in the beginning about megapixels. I've heard that a higher MP camera can actually give worse images than a lower MP camera. Hadn't heard that before, but somehow it makes sense. The 2MP camera I had for years worked just fine and the images were good - even though there weren't any manual settings! It was... after all... from the Dinosaur Era of digital cameras.... (Which was only 7 years ago.)

I can image that a higher MP count can give better photos, but it depends on more than just that. Like the amount of colors the camera reads and all the other settings.

Thanks for this nice tutorial though. It's pretty much what my photography teacher has been trying to teach us, but I haven't understood at all. It's nice to have it in English and written down.

Do you have any tips about night-time photography? (it's not exactly stock related, but I'm curious.)
