did they say something about the neg. space in the middle and the circle that your eye goes in when trying to read?
I think its always good to do something out there and get shot down then stay the same and be mediocre

Nah, didn't get that response (although I do agree it's a glaring issue in terms of compositions). It just didn't seem to fit the project apparently and my teacher wasn't that impressed. In hindsight, I'm actually not a big fan of this work and definitely surprised at the positive response it's gotten here (but thank you to everyone who has commented and faved it!

i think it's pretty nice aesthetic-wise; iono if i'd actually use it for a page since the poor reader's gonna have to either turn the book or learn to read upside down

i'd like to shoot you down too for composition and design no-no's but i think for now i'm going to kick back enjoy it. thank you for putting some good art into the deviantart world. excellent job on this one, great exploration, don't let it sit here, keep messing with it until it's good.

Well, I like it too. Sometimes projects get shot down with no reason at all. It all depends on the teachers' criteria, and teachers are not always objective.
