**Submission Update** Due to a discovery that my monitor was set brighter than everyone else's' I have redone this image to appear the way it was supposed to. Now you can see the detail and effort I put into it. Before it was quite too dark and intense of a color. Enjoy.**Feedback Update** I appreciate all the feedback and wonderful comments I have been getting on this piece. Some amazing statements. Having said that, I would like to point out that the critique I asked for was emotional content, not visual content. I have been getting criticism on how blurry the face is, and this is fine but this was intentional. I am trying to create a sense of disturbance. The face is blurry, but if you look closely, the cracked texture isn't.
I'm not trying to be picky, but I wanted to point this out because it was my intention to do this.
Well it has been a long long time since I did one of these, but here it is, a Photomanipulation. It started out odd and awkward, but a few hours later I ended up with something creepy and expressive that is dead on. I feel pressured from both sides and chaotic of late, and I feel like my mind is melting but something is emerging. I like this one a lot. It was fun to add a very old portrait of me in as well.

Very nicely done! I like this one very much! But I would like to say the cloudy part of the head makes the pic seem more mystical than disturbed.

This piece really doesn't create a sense of disturbance... more messy and chaotic... poor composition. I must say, that I didn't even really have any emotional response to it. There is a lack of color and it comes off bland, and not well constructed. Honestly, I think it may just be the face that is throwing the whole thing off. It seems rather out of place within the piece as a whole.

Thank you for commenting, I see that you have strong opinions about my piece, and I would just like to say that your criticism comes off offensive. I can tell you don't like it, but what's the point of telling me it's poorly done? I don't need you to say something positive, but what is helpful in telling me it's poorly done without an idea for reconstruction or what could be done different. I didn't ask, as per the request, for feedback on it's color or composition, so if you didn't have an emotional reaction, please let it be.
I am open to constructive criticism of my artwork, but please refrain from telling me that my artwork is poorly done. It's all relative. Everyone has a different style, please try to have an open mind, critique constructively.

I was making a suggestion on how to make it better, I guess it was too subtle. What I was saying was maybe try enhancing the colors some to make them more vibrant, and if you still can, try taking out the face because it throws it off.
And I do have an open mind... I was just being honest...

I appreciate your clarity and elaboration. I can see how the image doesn't have normal intense colors, but I find the red and yellow to be quite intense. I may play around with it to try to see what you mean. As for the face, that is the whole crux of it for me. If I took the face out I'd have to recreate the meaning for me, and it has already been defined in my mind. Perhaps a series is in order?

It feels epic, to me... like really big and important. I get sort of a lonely, "whole world on my shoulders" feel from it... like carrying a troubling burden, a secret, yet for a noble purpose... suffering for a cause.

It is spectacular. Amazing. It's very emotional and has a very mystic feel to it. It really reminds me of the CD cover for Therion's album, Vovin.

I feel that you are trying to show us your pain, probably pain that has seemed to last forever to you; but the lighted cloud seems to show some relief from that pain; maybe a resolution to some problem. Just my reaction to your art. But, what do I know?

I like the eyes! They don't seem as blurred as the rest of the piece and it looks as though there's somebody trapped behind everything else that's going on. The eyes also seem calm in spite of the madness around them - resigned to it maybe?

I hear what you're saying. I must point out though that this is intentional. And in fact many of the elements of this piece are very sharp indeed. The textures and the clouds for instance, as well as the borders.
The blurriness of my face is actually to give the unnerved sense of something not fully formed. I appreciate the comment and observation though. I'm not trying to shoot you down, just clarifying. Thank you, and I'm glad you like it.

WAY cool. This is definitely my favorite Photomanip of yours. It's haunting, which is something I thought I'd never hear myself say for a piece with such warm colors. The clouds on the forehead is brilliant- it really looks like something is emerging from your mind
