Description Before reading these guides, please read these first   They cover the basics on basic pony construction. The purpose of this guide is to get you thinking like an artist, considering things like 3 dimensional space, how anatomy changes when you change the angle its viewed from, and being consistent. The process I show in this tutorial is the exact same steps I currently follow when I'm drawing.

The reason we use lines and guides is not to be confined by them, but rather so that we know how much further outside those guides we need to go to achieve an effect. For example, if you wanted to draw a pony with wide, amazed eyes, you can use your guide to draw your eyes bigger than you normally do rather than just guessing on it. It's a means of showing intent.

The skill level for this guide is intended with someone who can already draw a basic pony passably well, but hopefully it can benefit all aspiring artists just as well.

Coming soon: More guides on texturing manes, drawing manes, drawing eyes, fluff, etc. Hopefully this helped someone!

Let me know if this helped you or how I can make the next one better!

These will come in very helpful. I can never quite get a hold of where to place the lines/axis for the head and face when drawing a pony.

Thanks so much for this, I've been having trouble with the leg lengths for SO LONG. Will you also do a guide on putting clothes on ponies?
