Hello I made a Riftborn OC and its name is λ (Lambda)
(it or they works but I’ll be trying out 'it' because I’ve never done it before)
I was thinking about making one for a while but I only had the barest surface-level knowledge of Endless Space 2 - and then @zykaben / @zykaben-art on Tumblr made her Umbral Choir OC, Farela Legato , and I thought well might as well since I actually have someone to talk to this about

λ is a Riftborn that was able to find beauty in not only its own world - lost forever, which it will mourn eternally - but also in the peaceful disorder of the Endless universe. In nature, in the natural sounds, the natural order of the chaos. However - war, strife, that kind of destructive chaos - λ could not stand. It believed the Riftborn could find peace through solitude, that there was no need to expand across the universe. The Viceroy’s views contrasted sharply with its own, and soon enough, it decided to get out while they still could. λ took a small ship and fled to an isolated planet. It lived peacefully there - sometimes checking its ship’s communicators for news and any approaching threats.
(I may be partly copping out of involvement with most military things because I don’t know the first thing about gameplay. But when I first leaned about the Riftborn, I thought they could have been a very peaceful, solitary, unbothered race.)
λ has powers over time, as the Riftborn do. It could be considered more powerful than many in its fine control over it - λ can perform self-contained time reversals and jumps, and form bubbles of singularites over decently sized areas on its own. It can easily maintain a singularity around itself. Usually, if a situation is looking very bad, it will use its abilities to flee.
In terms of personality, λ is at first glance very calm and collected, one with a preference of solitude. But it is quick to develop fear and prone to (internally) panicking - often resulting in them running away from any number of situations. And while it finds peace in solitude, it misses the unity it once had in Coroz, countless consciousnesses melding with its own. It misses the voices of others.
λ cares about things as much as things are convenient to care about. That is, it’ll care enough about people, things, places, enough to enjoy and make the most of them. But if they become a threat to its peace of mind, to its personal order and balance, it is always ready to let go. In a way, it is afraid of attachment - perhaps after having the stability of its home torn away, and with the universe always in turmoil. But sometimes, it gets attached regardless…
It knows quite a bit about the happenings of the universe - through listening, and sometimes, through paying visits across the galaxy while accelerating its own time (that is, time seems slowed/stopped in its perception but in actuality it’s just λ that’s going fast).
There’s also a bit about how it ended up in @zykaben ‘s TTRPG game:
“Glitch (Farela’s cover) and Arsill (a Vaulter who Glitch befriended and is giving her a ride to the Academy) ran into Lambda while they were conducting research on a planet in the upper galaxy. Farela was very curious about Riftborn because she’s never met one before and what little her people know about them makes her consider the parallels of their people to her own. So Glitch was Emphatically kind and curious so Lambda started answering questions and the two of them hit it off. Glitch told Lambda that she plans to venture throughout as much of the galaxies as possible, learning new things. Lambda expressed interest in trading information and continuing contact so Glitch now has the contact info for their ship so she can call them up.
Glitch calls them up to share new things she’s learned and stories, with Lambda returning the favor, albeit more calmly”
In other words, Space Skype (”Spype,” as those in Zyka’s game say)
