Thats one of the things I love about a good fly every now and then, they can be so hairy and cute! The mouthparts can be especially interesting, like you noted

I was actually surprised this image got a DD, I personally would have picked a different one of my shots, but seems to be how it always goes, everyone has different tastes! Thanks for the kind words

It was taken with a 50mm f/1.8 on 49mm of extension tubes, along with a whole lot of patience

Thank you! It was very spur of the moment. I was sitting on a deck and happened to have my camera. The fly landed and I snapped the shot just before it flew off.
