One of my shots from Indian Rocks beach this past Friday night. I edited this one to have nice, deep tones and hues. First, on whichever editing program you use - I use GIMP right now because it's free - take your "Tone curve" and shape it more like a "S" - move it to the right at the bottom and the left on the top. This increases your contrast while dimming your shadows and brightening your highlights. Then play with the colors; I added more magenta in the mid-tones and more red in the shadows, but not too much. Then increase your contrast slightly and add a lot of saturation to the colors. Then, on personal preference, I increased the white point and the shadows in the image.

I think I'm going to go with the single line in the bottom right corner for my signature; it's near and less obtrusive in the image and just looks nicer.
