Hi, sorry for the interruption to the conversation, but would you be willling to let us use the shot on a website we have just set up for a physiotherapy clinic. I was told about the website by a patient, and they suggested that you would need to be credited for the photo, which would not be a problem at all. Thanks for your help, hopefully yours,

this is beautiful.. if you blurred the audience a lil bit more, it would be perfect!

Fantastic image! I've got my first commission for next week at a Gymnastics tournament type thing to take pictures for the club. Do you have any tips that you could share? I guess I'll need to get good shots as no-one else can use cameras because of flash restrictions etc. I'll be shooting with the Nikon D50 with the kit lens 18-55mm.
Thank-you.

I wish i had strobes! Or a flash, but they are not allowed. It is just available light and a lot of practice photoshopping. I've processed probably 2000 pictures from that colosseum and they've all been at 1600 ISO and most underexposed so i'm getting pretty close to perfecting my post processing from that place.
Maybe i should go back and rotate and crop to get the beam level. It's not really that i had the camera unlevel, but that i am at an angle from the beam, so it's a perspective issue. I might leave it, not sure.
Thanks for your comment

I use photoshop CS and my flow is something like: Levels layer, Shadow/Highlight adjustment, 82 Blue photo filter (to get white balance a bit closer), noiseware, unsharp mask. The Levels and Shadow/hilight are of course the main ones that fix the underexposure.

Did all this come with cs? Noiseware is a bought plugin. What about 82 Blue filter? I have looked for something like that in the past and I can't find it.
You wouldn't pre chance know how to get to the Shodow/Highlight in CS2 do you? I have looked and can't find that either. It looks really helpful and the reviews seem to say that cs2 has it.

Hey sorry i never saw this til just now. If you're still wondering, both the blue filter and shadow/highlight tool are reached by going to image>adjustments and then either shadow/highlight, or photo filter. The color filter can also be applied as an adjustment layer from the layers palette, which is preferable because then you can change it later and it does not permanently affect the image until you've merged the layers.

I lovethis shot, the only thing that bothers me is the balance beam not being level, other than that it is amazing. Did you use a strobe for these?

What pain!?
It's really easy to do!! the problem is the landing...and where you have to land!!
But great fun!
Great shot by the way!

Oh i don't think it hurts her, but i can tell you that it would be popping and snapping inside of me if i tried that! I've seen that girl touch her heel to the back of her head. Probably not terribly uncommon in gymnastics circles but it is to me!
