GUYS I CAN'T STOP MAKING ADORABLE AVATAR-STYLE FAN ART HAALPPPP
Anyway, I'm rather short on time, so I'll try and keep this brief. Obviously, The Search Pt 2, the next instalment in the post-show Avatar TLA comics series, has come out, and I just could not contain my feels. I won't post any spoilers [this work is hardly one], but at one point the Gaang visits a Fire Nation family and and they have a little girl named Kiyi. During the visit Zuko is very sweet to her and IT WAS JUST SO ADORABLE because you compare this Zuko to the jerkface he was in Season 1 and he's just come such a long way!!
So all I did was expand their interation and thought it would be sweet to have Zuko read Kiyi a story. I sort of played off 'The Ugly Duckling' tale on the book's cover... I honestly *do not* know Chinese so I just kinda dumped the words 'The Ugly Turtle Duckling' into Google Translate and... just... used the kanji that popped out [I checked it translated back though XD]. So the turtleduck on the cover doesn't have a shell... poor little guy ;_____;
Also, forgive any anatomy problems... I tried and tried and tried and eh I just wanted the sketch over with because college is eating all my time DESPITE the fact I'm on break.
I hope you guys can forgive moar Avatar stuff! It's just my new fandom baby at the moment~ i_____i

*SPOILERS... OF AN OLD COMIC... BUT STILL*
It broke my heart to learn that Ursa WILLINGLY left her children behind. It makes even less sense after one of her own quotes is actually "Never forget who you are..." and hey look, that's exactly what she did... But even aside from that, it's just a pretty douchy move. :S
Still, Zuko and Kiyi were cute, and Zuko wasΒ a true gentleman during the whole story. (They grow up so quick! :')

Willingly? Ozai was tasked to kill Zuko, so Ursa offered to kill the old firelord with an untraceable poison, she bargained for Zuko's life, and Ozai forced her away (using Azula and Zuko as hostages), fearing that an untraceable poison might end up in his tea

Their siblingship is much better than it was with Azula. Zuko should just focus on this family from now on (since both his father and sister are both monsters, and the Fire Lord family union was not out of love). Besides, he has at least one immediate blood relative. Iroh can also come visit too. And the family wouldn't be complete without Song as his wife (since Mai broke up with him).

Cause he risked exposing himself and getting his new life and safety taken away by firebending just to make Jin happy. Thats why. With Song he didn't really care and stole from her when she was still watching after she had shown him kindness and never looked back,

Song is a better suit for Zuko. Jin just doesn't mix with his whole tragic story, nor is she empathetic or have any in common with him, unlike Song.

I just love the look on Zuko's face when she greets him at the door, after learning his mother is really Noriko. A look that says "holy shit I have a little sister an adorable sugar sack and not a pot of nuts!"Β

I'd just recently read the Search, and I have to admit, that book was awesome. But one thing that unexpectedly stuck out with me was that Kiyi was so cute, and when it was revealed that Kiyi was Zuko's half sister, I squeed. I do hope we get to see more of her in future comics.

Now, if someone asks him: "So, Zuko, which one of your little sisters do you prefer? Your old, psycho, bitchy, full little sister or your new, overly cute, adorable, half little sister?"
I wonder what he'll answer...
And I also wonder what kind of relationship will Azula have with this girl... Torture her like Zuko? Being helped into redemption by this child? That's a head-scratcher...

And yes, those are some very important issues. Having Kiyi in the picture kind of makes it even harder for Azula to feel loved and accepted by her family because she feels completely replaced.
I think by now Zuko would be wise enough not to pick favourites, but to accept them both as his sisters and be protective over them. Which, admittedly, is very difficult for him to do for Azula because she's tried to kill him several times, but it's the only way to potentially rehabilitate her. The fact that Ursa is also back might make patching things up with Azula a little easier, though...
I think it would probably start as a more hostile relationship, but if Azula gets somewhat better, it may shift into redemption. Azula has that many fans that Bryke would probably get shot if she didn't get proper closure and/or future development at some point...

We agree on that. Azula needs to have an ending of some sort (possibly happy), they just can't let her disappear like taht and forget about her. Consider taht Azula, in the end, is nothing but another victim of Ozai's crazy world-domination plans. Possibly the most unlucky victim of them all.
And Yes, maybe Kiyi's presence will make it harder for her to feel loved, which, in the end, is everything she really needs, but the fact that she ran away instead of fighting Zuko, after he said that she will Always be his little sister and he will never stop looking out for her, might be the actual starting point of her redemption process. Personally, I think of it as her first attempt to think with her own head, out of Ozai's influence. And that's important.

YES. This is why I love the comics so much, because it extends Zuko's character development and shows just how far he's come. It's amazing how someone can transform when they're not constantly angry anymore.

The fandom consensus seems to be 'Honora', but I'm really not a fan of that name because I get that Zuko was honor-obsessed in his youth and it just seems...awkward to pass that onto a child too. I don't know, it doesn't sit well with me. XD
