At long last ... the final! Please draw a picture of your character using their magic in some way somewhere in Brookview Academy. If you need help coming up with community service ideas, PASIPHAE would be more than willing to help provide some ideas. You need only ask. You may do this as a collab if you wish.
MERIT: Detecting high temperatures coming from burner. Optic sernsors have registered flames present. CAN activated, water condensing complete. Proceeding to extinguish fire hazard.
Ming: Ah, MERIT! Wait! Adding water to that will make it-

Where MERIT's classmates succeeded in their studies, MERIT... Also kind of succeeded in it's own.
MERIT never did quite feel the ethereal connection the students should feel as reported on the board in the final month. That is, it's a bit hard to tell if a robot's circuits can really be connected to the element. Halfway through the month, MERIT couldn't ignore the growing probability that water magic would never really work for it. So instead, MERIT spent it's last half of the month working on a sort of alternative to the classic water magic.
MERIT surprised Ming by creating the object all by itself, declaring that even if Magic was out of a robot's grasp, MERIT was still dertermined to find it's own solution. After a full week or tinkering, the "Neo Aqueous Construct" or the"CAN" was created.
It's a metal cylinder made with similar materials to it's alloy body, tuned to MERIT's frequency allowing it to respond only to MERIT's signals. By manipulating it's shape VIA sending various fequency waves (think of a kind of morphing alloy that can roughly change shape) to the object's reciever module, it can take on different shapes. Nothing exciting (It couldn't make a canon or anything large! It's still just a small object and attempting to change the laws of mass would certainly short-circuit it's poor processors) but a watering can or a bucket is no problem!
Some examples of MERIT's magic:
- While MERIT can't "manipulate water" it can produce an illusion of doing so. By adding some water to the CAN, it then infuses the water with metal particles. After a few minutes of the process, using some well placed (and MERIT-safe) magnets embeded in MERIT's palms, the water can be "manipulated" and potentially hover in the air (though, larger water quantities are harder to keep in check.) Water spheres are a trick MERIT will work on in it's free time.
- MERIT can't produce water but with a bit of water in the CAN and some energy generated by it's power cells, the water can be evaporated and condensed by creating cool air streams through it's fans. This method makes controlling the production erratic (And at times random) but with a bit of practice, maybe MERIT could make miniature rain clouds. Another way to "produce water" is to use the CAN to suck moisture from the air and condense it within the CAN, "creating" water from air. Though it can't be viewed (since the CAN is not transparent) small children might enjoy the wonders of magic water during birthday parties.
- Using high pressure and a touch of science, water in the CAN could be condensed into ice. A few extra transmissions to the reciever module and MERIT could even sculpt objects out of the ice chunk by making molds with the CAN. Good for fancy ice cubes in your drink!
- And of course, there's the practical use of having water! The CAN can filter out impurities from water and create drinking water! Take MERIT and it's CAN on the go with you during trips to the desert and you'll be A-ok! Just be careful MERIT doesn't overheat...
In the end though, MERIT had a lot of fun with MAgic class and did end up learning more about Magic.
Particularly, the magic of Science~
Homg, why is it when I try to draw the robo's homework, it's always lame chibi-robo. ;7;"
I shouldn't try drawing when my head's not in the drawing game. This is what pops out. I shudder ot think about what Ming's homework will look like.
I'd hoped MERIT would be able to learn some magic this term. In the end though, MERIT stuck to the science-y roots. I think this alternative suits it somehow but I hope this is acceptable for a Magic class assignment. I know it says students were successful but MERIT's successful technically? "OTL
I like to think Ming was just making some fondue and burning off some cooking wine or something, but I've never heard of fondue that explodes when you "Just add water!" /.7./
